Default 2003 Auto 350Z

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with an Auto 350Z. The 2003 model in particular. I was thinking of getting the 6MT variation but when I did drive a stick shift car driving in the city was a major pain. I live in San Francisco if any of you might wonder.

I love the styling of the Z and was wondering if the Auto version of the 03 model is as good. I know not for speed and etc. but what about as a car in general?

Found one for $15K. Only has 46K miles on it. 2 previous owners.

Any advice from you Z owners will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

It's not good. It's great. There are virtually no discernible performance differences between a 6MT and 5AT. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I live in Orange County and traffic sucks pretty bad here, but I still love my manual Z No way I'd give it up for an automatic

Ah, that's great to hear.
Don't get me wrong. I love driving a stick shift but taking trips to downtown a few times a week and it gets old pretty fast. Don't even get me started on the crazy hills around there, haha.
Is there something to look out for on the 03 Auto 350z models?

I actually don't mind the traffic. Just the hills that gets me the most.

tire feathering on the 03 model. search "tire feathering" on here and you should find plenty of threads about it

I thought excalty the same thing..when i first bought my car.. i wanted to get a shift, but to where I live Washington DC(is third on the top ten list of the worst traffic in the US) soo I got a Auto, its good and its fast, (but if you are into racing or if you are an amature fast and furious thing) get a shift..

Hehe, not really into racing. I like my money in my bank account and not the govt (tickets). I'm pretty good about it, being a 24 year old male without a speeding ticket...yet, lol.

As for the whole fast and furious dealy, sure the movie is entertaining but I would never mod a car out to look like the ones on the movies, haha.

If I do get the Z, the only mods I would ever do will be exterior/appearance mods and just spend the rest in maintaining the bad boy.

I just want a nice, sleek looking cruiser that I can take my girlfriend around town with. This is probably why I opted for an auto. I remember driving a stick shift in the city and all I was doing was playing with the shift **** more often then actually enjoying the drive. I even remember times where I would just take her car out because when we decided to head downtown at around 5PM on a weekday, I would be too frustrated to enjoy the night out, lol.

It's all in what you want. I have an 03 6MT and absolutely love it. I don't feel like I'm shifting either. Most of the time in traffic I'm in first and just coasting the Z has enough torque to keep you moving really slow in first gear...

O okay. I had a 2000 Celica GT-S 6SP and the low end torque on that car was horrible. You'll die out without even knowing at times, haha.

Auto is for econo/luxury cars
Manual is for sports cars/touring cars

Auto is for women drivers
Manual is for men

If you have *********, get a manual transmission.

Hehe, okay, I don't want this to be a flame war. I do apologize for asking in the first place. I was just trying to check and see if there was any known flaw with the 03 Auto Zs.

Thank you all who have replied.

The auto Vs MT always brings out the responses you see above.

No reason not to buy an auto Z. As with any used car be sure a mechanic you pay & trust checks it out before buying.

if you had any ********* you wouldnt need to get all defensive about them. STFU and respect other peoples choices. If he wants the Auto Z its not your place to tell him otherwise.

LoL... Funny but really not true. If your buying a BMW chances are low that youll want a stick unless of course its a Mseries. Some people grow tired of shifting and working their calf muscles every time they get in the car. Respect peoples choices geeze lol.

and btw ive been driving a stick my entire life.
