i went and looked at a 350z at a local dealership. 04 black touring. I was pretty interested. I basically just happened to see it drivng through a town about and hour from my house and stopped.
I walk in with a plain white T, and gym shorts. Salesmen hardly talks to me then promises to run a car fax then call me and email the carfax. Didnt even give me a personal card. Needless to say i never heard from him. If i wanted the car i could have wrote a check for it......easy sale for him. now i will never go back.
I drove 3 hours away last year to buy my harley cause the people at the dealership 10 minutes away treated me the same way. But i look rediculously young for my age. So who knows.'

The first dealer I went to, it was because of the salesman not knowing his sh*& that I left. I wanted the car but something didn't feel right after speaking to him. A few hours later, I went to a better dealer, got a brand new Z with less mileage, and fortunately, I had a salesman who actually knew what he was talking about, adored the car, genuine guy, and treated me like a king.
Until today, he still remembers my voice when I call without introducing my name and still hooks me up at their parts and services dept with Nismo stuff.

lol.. you have gotta love stupid sales people. I remember for my first car I went to honda to get civic and the salesperson couldn't even tell me the differences between the models. So I went to toyota where they knew their stuff.
I sold mazda's for a bit and I had this one guy come in just wanted to test drive an rx8. My manager told me to just let the guy go but next thing you know the guy is buying a RX8 that had been sitting on the floor for over a year because I actually new my ****. The guy said he went to local dealerships but the sales people had no clue about the cars and told me he'd buy the car cuz I knew what I was talking about.

Anyways I get 1 salesman who is reluctant to even speak to me - I tell him I want a 350z - long story short he basically tells me to beat it and offers me to look at some used corollas - i walk out on him.
Later that day I get my dad to drop me off in his 7 series... like 5 salesmen run up to the car to literally get the door and suck my dick as I am getting out, anyways I see the sames salesguy who offered me corollas - he's like "are you back for the corolla?"
me "............................."
long story short I test drove a MT Z and then an AT Z - basically i've had the whole stealership licking my ***** while that sales guy was sitting in his cubicle and crying /wristing because he made a shity choice.
I drove of with my 06z
)It's all about appearance in stealerships - it's so funny sometimes when some rich guy walks in wearing a tshirt with a hole in it - everyone treats him like **** and then he drives out in a brand new m3
I went to check out the two Nismo Z's our local dealer has in the other day. The GENERAL MANAGER of the dealership told me the horsepower was increased to 350HP on the Nismo version. I just said "Oh is it now?".
I have a lot of salesman stories, LOL.
My experience when I bought my Z is typical that I’ve had with sales people –I knew more about the car than he did. I’d researched and studied up on the new 350 months before I even went into the dealership.
When I got my Z, they had been on the market less than a year. They had only had a few Zs sold, and most of those were pre-orders –not on the lot at all. My salesman had never sold a Z. He usual sold Altimas & Sentras, which is most dealership's bread & butter. So for the entire time, I was explaining the car, it’s features, options, performance, etc. to him. On the ‘test drive’ I was showing him all the car’s features.
He was a nice guy, though, and very appreciative of me explaining the car to him. After we finished up the thanked me for teaching him about the Z and told me to be sure in the post-sale evaluation not to mention how ignorant about the car he was.

Yup.
Frankly, I always 'dress up' when I go to a dealership, whether I am just looking or buying.
Salesman are just morons. They definitely discriminate based on appearance. When you ‘dress up’ they’ll allow you to do what ever you want (ie. test drive anything, no questions), pay attention to you, and are overly polite. Basically just suck up to you.
It really is funny.
Before I stepped into the Z, I was looking at the Altima Coupes. I was being pretty selective as well. I wanted the Dark Slate color, nav, 3.5L engine, etc.... Well, I got to a few dealerships asking if they can get me what they want and they continually dodge my question and try to push me something else on the lot. (Mainly older model Altimas and Sentras) I told him that's not what I want, so they tried pushing 2.5L models on me with shitty additions (those stupid tinted window liner things... not sure what to call them)
Well, this **** goes on and on and I eventually get tired when one of the sales guys makes a comment about my age and a new Altima Coupe being out of my price-range (was 20 at the time). I gave him the "O'rly" and walked out. Saw the Z in paper, cheap, went out and absolutely loved it, great condition (It was at a BMW lot, which had really nice considerate sales staff. No comments about my age or looks, hell, they even let me drive it as soon as I asked). Signed the papers and drove off in my ride... only to stop by the Nissan dealership that kept running me in circles and show them what they missed out on.

I bought an 03 Accord new back in June 03 and during the test drive the genius sales guy I had was ranting about all of the cup holders and how you could hide your beer....er...milk in the cup holder in the door when you get pulled over. That guy was amusing but took 5 hours to complete the paper work. I know I was his only sale that day because I was at the dealership from noon to 5 on a Sunday and he was with me all day, and left right when I did. lol.
When I bought my 04 GTO I walked into the dealership on my lunch break and at the time I worked in an auto parts store I walked in with a t shirt and some ragged jeans on, walked past the salesman on duty, past the car I wanted in the showroom and into the dealership president's office. I pointed at the car and said I want it, I don't have any time to waste I have to be back at work in 20 minutes.
I signed the paperwork and they brought it to my house that night after I got off work. Never had to deal with a salesman. Best transaction ever.

WOW am I enjoying this thread.
Its not a nissan story. But AFTER I walked out of my local Harley store. A friends dad got a job as a salesmen there.
He apologized for the way I was treated and told me his second week there a guy was looking at like a 23k bike. Full "rat" looking guy in his fifties. The guy said he would be back the next day. Well Rich the salesmen did not think much of it but gave the guy his time. Next day guy came back with actual CASH said 23k out the door and had himself a new bike.
Not sure I would carry 23k in cash, but there is a bank a block from the dealership so who knows.....
It is hard being 20yrs old, 5'9, and 130lbs soaking wet. I look like im about 16 or 17 somedays I am sure. But i have worked and saved for a long time cause im a huge cheap skate... I still tip good though. And i remember who treated me right.
Sidenote... as a current BMW owner, i must say the BMW community is AMAZING..... some of the best people I have ever met. HECK when i announced i was selling the BMW to get a Z, they all said make sure I come back post them some pictures and feel free to ask for help whenever needed.
I must say though the Z group has been pretty good here so far.... LEAPS and bounds above the 240 forums.

I have another pretty funny story; I was helping my cousin pick out a car for her and basically she doesn't care how much hp it has or how fast it goes all she cares is about the looks,
and at the time we were getting her a car she recently got out of med school and had hard cash in her bank (graduation gift) specifically for the car - after 5 hours of driving around we come to the nissan dealership - so we do a few laps around the parking lot and she sets her eye on the Z.
We walk in the dealership - the usual story - 3-4 sales man welcome us and start licking up - anyways they ask her what she wants, shes like
"I don't have anything specific in mind"
long story short we drove around the lot with the sales guy and finally hes like so would you like a sentra or what?
my cousin is like "I want that black coupe in the middle of the showroom floor"
the sales guy "I don't think that car suits you, it's more of a guy car"
that pissed her off so bad - next thing you know she flips out on the guy and gets the general manager to sell her the car with 2k of the msrp (grand touring 350z)
I was cracking up on the way back, you should have seen the sales guy face - he thought she was gona get an altima or a sentra and she drives out in a brand new z lol
