That's because there is nothing in the way to obstruct the signal.
pwned. You set yourself up for that one!

I increased mine by about 50%. I switched the Z's dsr-pl chip with the chip from a 2003 Audi, which uses a dsr-ps-tr3 series chip.
The Audi chips fits perfect in the Z's fob.
Just reprogram the Z'z reciever and yer done.

Why does this matter? What's the point of having it work farther away than 10-15 feet? Just unlock/lock it when you're closer to your car. Not like it's gonna do you any good to unlock it 100 feet away.

God, I remember the days when this forum was actually somewhat helpful.
Now its just a bunch of ****in smartasses huh.
Stein was the only one who actually had an idea that someone may have never heard of - Thanks for that.

so i tested this chin/ head theory out
I was able to walk 25 yard away and unlock the car with the remote being over my head. I was able to walk 30 yards and unlock the car with the remote against my chin. I was able to unlock the car about 40 yards away while standing on a 3 foot high step ladder.
IMO it's all about heaight and distance... the further away you are the higher you have to be till a certian point where the signal is just not strong enough.

then I stuck the key next to my head and it WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so the whole elevation theory is busted.

NO DICE,
then I stuck the key next to my head and it WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember I said it's about height and signal. for some reason your signal is stronger when you put it to your head. So since you were at a higher elevation when you put it to your head you are proving it's elevation unless you tested it when you were at the base of the building at the exact distance away

It probaly works better under the chin because your neck is acting like a directional (beam style) antenna and directs more of the signal to the car instead of an omnidirectional signal.
In other words it takes an omnidirectional signal and makes it directional by placing under your chin.
