Default Oil change Frequency

I received, well let me re-phrase that, I purchased 5 years of oil changes from my dealer, and my question is, since the dealer does not know the answer, How often do I get my oil changed at the dealer.

BTW, I only put about 300-400 miles on the car a month. I was thinking of getting it done every 6 months, regardless of the miles (as long as they are below 3750). Any suggestions or comments? And since my owners manual says every 3750 OR 3 months, then does the dealer have to change my oil every 3 months regardless of miles. They stated they would only do it by the miles not the time-frame.

I also am putting miles on at a low rate. I'm at 2600 miles after 4.5 months. I'm just going to wait until I hit 3750.

Does it really say that? That surprises me! I need to go look for that!

If your owners manual says that then your dealer doesn't have a leg to stand on; they MUST do what the manual says if they accepted your money for 5 years of oil changes.

3750 or 6 months with Dino oil is, IMHO, good enough.

See if you can convince them to use Mobil-1

It seems the sentiment is that 3750 or 6 months cetainly wouldn't hurt the car. I'd agree totally with that.

However, since dealers are usually a-holes, it sounds like you could get some revenge and require them to change the oil based on the owners manual, which would be every three months.

I'd personally stick with the mileage, unless it's taking significantly longer than 6 months to reach the 3750 target.
