Hey all, quick question/advice. My Z is only about 2 weeks old, but she has about 1000 miles on her. I'm going to be taking a road trip next week, (about 500 miles all together, there/back/in-between) and I was just wondering should I try and change the oil before it? I always end up hearing lots of different stuff about the oil that comes with the car, then some people say to change it right away, some say wait 1000 miles, others say go by the manual. I only ask just because I've never taken a new car on a road trip so early, so i was just trying to be cautious. Thanks for any help.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to do an oil change before you go. Either way it's probably not a major big deal.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of arguments back and forth about it, but I tend to go with the idea that there may be little metal flakes from the manufacturing process in the first oil. If you change it you can't do any harm right? Will changing it make you more relaxed and confident on your road trip? Change it!

You should be careful, though, about long times running on the cruise control. No matter whether people say to carefully follow manufacturers breakin or whether they say drive it like you stole it from the first day, they all say to avoid long periods at steady RPMs during the breakin period. Either take the side roads for the first major leg of the trip or (easier) occasionally switch between 5th and 6th gear to vary the engine RPMs.
