Reason why I am asking is because I made an appt. to get my car checked in for the rear axle clicking but I am pretty sure that my car is out of warranty. I tried asking him if they are going to charge me and they just keep on telling me to bring the car in and discuss it then. But it's such a waste of time if I was to bring the car in only to get charged. Waste of a day imo.

once they find out it will be cp they are supposed to call you for you to authorize the repair. at that point you have the option of declining the work. if you decline the repair you may be charged a diagnostic fee depending on the tech and how long it took him to diagnose the problem. in most cases where the problem is easy to figure out/common problem i do not charge a diag fee--everyone is different though.
if your car is out of warranty then expect to pay.

so basically you get charge a diagnostic fee eventhough you have a warranty?? because i have a problem with suspension. my front driver side is keep making griding sound.. so i made an appt. on next week...they said if you have a warranty remaining(3year warranty),i get no charge...but it will charge a repair cost if the part is not in warranty..is this true??

No, you get charged a diagnostic fee if the problem found is not covered by the warranty. You can't expect a dealer (or any other shop) to spend half a day tracking down a problem then have you tell them "nevermind, I don't want it fixed if it's not covered by warranty".

O dang. NVM on that then. Might as well take to a mechanic that I know can fix it instead of wasting some cash on the diag fee. How much does Nissan usually charge for a diag fee?
