Trading my 04 R32 for 350Z, Any advice?
Hello,
I currently have 2004 R32, VF stg2 supercharged(350hp), 43k miles, kw suspension, upgrade awd haldex controller. I bought this car on March for 23k from private seller.
Since I bought this car, I couldnt pass ga emission due to aftermarker software and had bouncing idle issue that no one really found out(tried 4 different shops/dealers), and still having issue.
So I figured I take off the s/c and all the aftermarker parts and sell it.(I probably going to get around 5k from the parts and s/c.)
And trade R32 to 07-08 350z(still deciding which trim I should get).
I'm pretty sure I can sell my R32 to private for around 22k. But if I trade-in, dealers probably give around 18k-19k.(I really wish they give 20k.) 04 R32 has really good resale value.
Do you guys think I'm making a good move? R32(awd) to 350z(rwd)
I cant decide which trim I want, I probably install most bolt-on parts and enjoy then maybe FI.
Base-Its great if I'm going to go FI, I can always add aftermarket LSD, but no TC
Enth-Great to have TC when its raining(I dont know if TC is really good option to have in 350z), cruise controls(I never use), stock LSD
Touring-Bose(dont care), leather(nice if its there), heated seat(I love this, but if I get cloth seat, no need), TC, LSD, VDC(I dont know if this thing is good)
GT-touring+brembo. Nice to have brembo.
First I was thinking used low mile 07 GT for around 25k-27k but then new 08 base or enth for around 27k-29k.
I was prefer leather seat instead of cloth, and good to have VDC,TC,LSD. But I researched on this forum and changed my mind that maybe I dont need leather seat and VDC, also I dont need to worry about LDS cause aftermarket one is better anyway. But I think I need TC for safety, If it really helps.
SO.. Which one should I need to look for in my needs?
Any advice would be really helpful to make up my mind.
Thanks guys.
Tae.

Get one with traction control for sure, cause when your just putting around its nice to have keeps thing from getting hairy when you're not expecting it. The stock LSD is also nice until you are ready to upgrade.
THe R32 is quick supercharger, but the Z in N/A form with some mods will satisfy you if you were used to 350whp from the R32. You can get 320-350BHP from a Z NA (read: not wheel HP) with the right mods and tuning and it's all quite civilized, no idle problems, no emissions problems and super reliable.
You will also like the RWD over AWD quite a bit. My talon had 424whp with AWD of course and i loved the car, but I have to say that RWD is just so much more fun. The Z is a purpose sports car, not like the R32 which is a hatchback etc.. I had a GTI VR6 with D/P nitrous and went 12.5 in it, I had a quaife etc etc... It was still a hatchback and not a sports car.
You will love the Z.

Base doesn't have cruise control. That right there makes the jump to an Enthusiast worth it IMO. Traction control is good for slow bad-weather driving and the stock LSD, while not great, is a lot better than the open diff on the base and will tide you over until you get around to your power mods.
Honestly the Z is kind of a bad platform for power mods. An STI or Evo gets you more power for cheaper at just about every price point, and there isn't much aftermarket for the 07+ motor yet. The HR motor isn't maxed out N/A, but it's pretty damn close, and the high compression ratio limits what you can do with boost without a lot of work.

None of vf stg2 s/c guys having problem like I do, but only my car is having problem because previous owner switched to different aftermarker software.
So I was going to switch back to VF original software, but I ended up just take off the s/c since I really didnt like the way s/c delivers the power. I regret buying a modified car, I should've bought a stock r32 then I would be enjoying the car now. I was thinking that I just sell this car and get stock r32, but I want to try 350z, because 350z was my second choice when I bought my r32.

i really love the R32, its a very versatile car. when going through the new car buying process, it was between the Z, the s2k, and the R32. if you are looking for best performance, styling, and females, than go for the Z. you wont look back.

Hello fellow VAG owner. I had a 04 Audi A4 Quattro. These peps that have never owned an VAG group car will never know the ups and downs of German engineering.
Go with the 08 Enthu. with Nissan's special APR is the better deal.

I was also looking at R32s but I decided against it because when I was shopping, people were asking original MSRP for used cars, and the new R32 was about to come out. I ended up buying a Z instead.
If you decide to buy a Z, I recommend you get Enthusiast. It's the best value, even though it has cloth, not leather.

lol@ people wanting pics. R32 is a badass car. Especially the MKIV. MKV is still sweet but the IV just looks soo badass.
Anyway I have an enthusiast. IMHO it's definately worth it over the base for the cruise control alone. If you do any sort of highway driving its essential.
