I had the same stink(rotten eggs, burning smell) when I first had the car. Dont worry it goes away. But I still get a "smell" when I go past 5k rpm passing or merging. I know its not a burning smell but I think its running rich?

It's the cosmoline in the engine bay which is used to prevent corrosion. It (the smell) will go away within 1K miles.

I'm at 3500 miles now and I still get that "rotten eggs" smell, got a good whiff of it today in fact. Is there something else I should be concerned about? That, and the brake squeal its almost embarrassing to drive the thing.

you have 3500 miles and you still have the smell???? i'm at 1100 miles and the smell is almost gone. maybe you should try a different gas. that's what happened to my uncle's gs430. he was using gas from costco and his car smelled like rotten eggs. he brought it back to the lexus dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong. so they finally found out that the gas that my uncle used had too much "sulfur" based additives or something like that. but basically try a different gas, the smell might just go away.

I good hard brake check will usually get rid of the brake squeal that comes from stop and go traffic and light, long brake use.

There is something in Shell Premium gas that causes a bad smell.. I've tried all the local premium gases and it's only Shell.. Anyone else experience this??

Steve (k2we) Dobbs Ferry, NY 12,016 miles since Sept 17th...

Yeah I could see how poor quality gas could cause a smell like that.

Funny, though, I don't remember any smell when my Z was new.

Of course every time I turn off the A/C it smells like a wet dog. But my Maxima did that too.
