The distance on the remote is horrible !!!
i hope it's not just mine...it's so hard to unlock the doors of the car w/ the remote when i'm not within about 10-15 feet of the car...on hot days (almost everyday) i try to get the windows down while i'm walkin to the car, but it really gotta get close to this thing to get it to work...is it my remote? maybe the batteries are low (only had the car like 2 months)?
p.s. i try the "putting your keys under your chin" thing, and it works, sometimes, but i feel stupid all the time when i do that...

just hold it high, if there are cars blocking the way, that doesnt help. its quite possible that you sat down at one point and a key pushed one of the buttons, youd never know it, but itd kill your battery quick; I unlocked and hit the panic on mine a few times. so might wanna replace it, it could die that quickly if that happened..
I had someone comment on the lack of distance the other day. I always thought it was a little short, but its not really that big of a deal as long as i don't have to stick my key in there.
BTW, i think the "chin" thing does help.

I have to agree that the distance is relatively short.
If it makes you feel any better, it is just as short in the Infiniti as well. So nothing is wrond with your remote, it's just the way it's designed I guess.
I have never had the guts to try "the chin thing:

I notice the short distance on the remote’s range right off. Glad to learn it’s not just a problem I was having. Will definitely check out the chin thing tonight. Thanks!
BTW, I have a ’00 Max and its remote range is phenomenal I bet its 50 yards when there are no obstructions!

The "chin" thing is placing the end of your remote under your chin when you are trying to use it. Its supposed to increase the distance that your car will lock/unlock from. I learned it several years ago at a dealership i worked at. Try it, you'll understand then.
lmao!! im so glad to hear that so many of you beleive in the appropriately named "chin thing"
i always wondered if it was only me and my crazy nieghbors who thoght it worked ... my g/f definitely thinks im crazy!!

I have been a firm believer in the "the chin thing" for years. My previous Audi was notorious for having a short range (usually only 3-7 feet!!!) so the "chin method" was a must.
Actually, I am thrilled with the range of the Z remote since my A4 was so bad. Using the "chin method" I can get a range of 50-60 feet, especially if I am slightly elevated from the car. NOrmally I can easily get 10-15 feet without trouble.
Here's to the chin!!!
