Last Color Debate!
Sorry to be talking about colors again guys...
Can each of you tell me the colors you like, and WHY you like them? I just want some opinions.
I am mixed between White, Silver, Silverstone, and Sunset.
I had originally ordered White because it was a color that both my girlfriend and I liked... But now that I'm single... I am thinking about a change.
I called my salesman at Douglas Nissan of Orange and he told me that I can still change the color without pushing the delivery date any further back.
If this post bothers you since it is like the 50th time we talk about colors, just ignore this please.
Thanks!

Well campers, I am sure to offend and I mean not to....
BullishZ... whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM SILVER .
Reason is that most people ordered their "Chrome Z" based off the images. Nissan didn't make it well known that the show car was not the chrome silver car and I think some people are going to be a might peaved when their car arrives and it's not the reflective color the show car was.
Personally, if I was in a position to order fresh again color wise, I would choose REDLINE because it's the least popular coor for the Z according to the latest stats regarding pre orders. We all know a red Z looks good, and let's face it, this car would be hard pressed to not look good in any color. My second color of choice would be a tie between Daytona Blue and Sunset LeMans.
All comes down to how bad you want to stand out from the other Z's I guess.
I am more than sure the Silver Z's will look tight, I just don't ever want to be driving and have the same color Z pull up on me is all.

JmanZ, u are right... I did notice the difference in the Silver as well...
The sunset looks awesome... but what most people say is that it looks good now, but it may not be "in" in 2 years or so. It is kinda a gamble, since orange is the hip new color, and we don't know if this will last. Kinda like forest green colors, that's all gone now. The resale value can be affected.
What are your opinions on that?

I chose Silverstone. Here's why. I didn't want a color that was too light because light colored cars appear larger than dark colored. I didn't want a color that was too dark because of swirl marks, scratches, and dust standing out on it. I also like Sunset and Daytona Blue but the Sunset seems a little too flashy and the Blue is too bright for me. Considering that it's a sports car, the Sunset would be my second choice but I think that the Silverstone will age better.
I know my answers may not be the most popular, and I don't want to start a flame war, but this was my thought rationale in picking the color.
I would prefer Black or Brickyard. However, because I live in Houston, I refuse to own another dark colored car (if you've been here in July, you know what I mean).
I chose Chrome Silver for the following reasons:
1. It won't absorb as much heat as a darker color will.
2. It will hide dirt and dust better than the other colors.
3. Silver paint today does not fade like it did in the 70's ad 80's
4. It will have a classic timeless beauty to it. I think Black, White and Brickyard will also be around for many many years, but some of the other color options will become dated over time.
5. I've owned a white car before, and it was just as hard to keep clean as my black jeep was.
6. When it's time to sell and upgrade in 5 years, Chrome Silver or Silverstone will appeal to a larger group of people.
Pick the color that YOU like best, and for your reasons.

My two cents...the color you chose comes down to only one thing: what do you think it looks best in. Who cares what the resale is? Will a higher resale value console you when you look at your baby and realize you should have gone with another color? Same thing with other Z owners...will the fact that you're the only one around with an avacado green Z make you feel better when you see your neighbor pull up in the lemans sunset you really wanted to get? Forget about that garbage...look at the pictures, and one will probably rise to the top. Then order it, and forget about it.

Black. The last time I owned a Red sportscar, '97 911, the day after delivery I got a ticket. It's almost like that color is a cop magnet . "arrest me Red. Also, there's nothing like a clean Black car ... really shines like no other. The trick is to keep it clean all the time. I'll enjoy washing this car every day if necessary to keep it looking slick.

BullishZ,
Color is a personal choice. You have to see this car every day for the next many years. You should pick it based on what you like and will enjoy, not what others or onlookers think of you or the color. You pay for the car, your preference come first. Car colors are also in and out of fashion/popularity. Brand new color look cool today, but may look outdated in 5 years. A few 350Z color fit into that category. Some color look stand out, some look more classy, some are hard to maintain, some cost you more in insurance, some attract cop, some ... I think you got my point.
I picked the Silver as my next car color way before I saw the 350Z. So the reason that JmanZ think of the fellow Chrome Silver 350Z folks doesn't apply to me and neither for many others. I'll bet a few made the exact mistake that JmanZ think, but many chose this color based on their person choice, just like me. If you like 350Z color exclusivity, your Pike Peak White is second next to Redline, at 4.39%. If you look at white as car color in general, then white is very common. The same can be said about red, black, silver, silverstone.

I didn't start this thread to see what other people got, to get what other people liked. I like the 4 colors I mentioned above, and just wanted to see why other people go the colors they got and what attracted them to it.
Also, you're right. I do see ALOT of white cars on the road...
Is Sunset the color you are referring to when you say the colors that look good today may fade in popularity later?
Here was my rationale since you asked:
I wanted the styling elements of the Z like the tail lights, head lights, and door handles to stand out. This ruled out redline and chrome silver for me.
Wanted a metallic color since I wasn't sure how a car with a body line as high as the Z's would look in a solid color. This ruled out black and redline again, although I think that black with orange leather might turn out to be a great combo.
Silverstone and white are nice but didn't appeal to me.
I could be happy with any of the remaining three choices (Le Mans, Daytona, and Brickyard). Settled on the Daytona after much agonizing. It looks like the same shade of blue used on many of the cars that raced at Daytona in 60's.

It depends on how much you want to "stick out".
I ordered chrome silver partially because of the show car, but also because I really dig the color on the pathfinder. Depending on the lighting, it can look fairly gunmetal.
However, "everyone" will have a silver Z, and the most popular color for all cars is silver currently. I personally don't care, I'm not fixated on the uniqueness issue. I've liked silver since way before it came into vogue.
Sunset will definitely turn heads. I considered it briefly, but decided after a few months it may get tiresome getting into an orange car.
Silver or silverstone will be nice, though widespread. The white I think will look classy, more reserved.

Here are my pro. and con. view of your 4 color choices. Meant to help you out with no intention to bash the choice of others.
Hope this will help you finalize your decision.
1) White:
Pro: very save bet, won't go out of style, business like/classy, look much better after car wash. Two of my cars are white between late mid '70 and mid '80, so I am done with white for a while.
Con: always dirty, too conservative, too many on the road, almost every make/model have a white.
2) Chrome Silver:
Pro: reasonably save bet, classy, been around for a long time as staple of luxury car color (e.g. Mercedes) and recently for sport car (Porsche, Corvette) as well, look nice and bright when clean, hide dirt pretty well. I haven't own a car in Silver, so I give it a turn.
Con: conservative, too many on the road, not eye catchy enough for a sport car.
3) Silverstone:
Pro: been around for a while as metallic dark gray but renewed popularity among S2000 and Porsche, classy/mature, never look dirty. My Audi 5000 color look similar to this in mid '80 to early '90 so I already gave it a turn.
Con: not bright enough, hard to see during dawn and dusk, look almost the same after car wash, not eye catchy enough for a sport car.
4) Leman Sunset:
Pro: new color, eye catchy/turn head, exclusivity.
Con: will go out of style and look dated in the future (just go back 50 years and look at all the popular color of the era, some made a short come back (e.g. racing/dark green, some never did), look like rust color to me.
Well, here's my $.02....
I ordered Silverstone. Why, because one of my favorite colors on a car is the Porsche Seal Grey. Silverstone was the closest I could come to that color. I also wanted a darker car, but not black.
I have already owned a car with the Sunset color. It was a 2001 Acura CL Type-S in Sundance "Pimp Daddy" Gold. It was nice for a while, but got old quick. However, the car did turn heads more so than any other car I've owned (including my 1990 300ZX in Pearl Yellow). Even when I took it to local Acura meets and car shows, it commanded a lot of attention. Again, it got old quick and when I traded it in, the first thing out of the dealers mouths was "I don't know about the color". Definately hurt the resale value.
Black and White cars need lots of attention or the dirt will pile up (black more so than white). Silver is a timeless color, but everyone has it (not that there's anything wrong with that...)
Red= Give me a ticket or pull me over for no reason at all
Blue= Nice color, but a bit too flashy for my taste. But beautiful none the less.
Bottom line, order what makes you happy. The only opinion that matters is your own. No matter what color you order, you will love the car.
As will all of us on this board.

Everyone else above has pretty much said what I feel. I chose Silverstone after initially ordering LeMans. Got scared that I wouldn't like LeMans after a year or 2. After MUCH agonizing, chose Silverstone because it should stay fairly clean-looking, it won't go out of style, and -- seriously, this was a big factor -- I love the contrast of the Burnt Orange seats with the dark interior and exterior.
I have a red car now, and while it's nice, I'm ready for a change.
A month or so after I changed to Silverstone I considered changing again, and I vacillated between every single color from day to day. This car is going to look awesome in every color. I would have gotten Dayona Blue if I could get orange seats from the factory.

Just stumbled across this on cars.com:

Sorry to spoil 30% or so of people's fun, but this directly affects me:
Silverstone aka dark gray: #10!
