Lightbulb why they never made the 350z turbo?

hey guys.. i was thinking today when a 300zx tt bov's went off right next to me.. why they never made the 350z turbo? i wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for a turbo version. if you think about it, every "Z" car has had a turbo version

from the 240z/280z/300zx tt.. if i'm forgetting a model oppsie.. but yea.. what does the 350z get? just the nismo 350z, which i bet handles like its on rails. heck to think about it, even the s12/s13/14/15 has a turbo version.. but why skip the 350z?

i bet there will be a few of you that wouldn't mind driving a street legal turbo'd z..

well yea.. just a thought..

Also, from my observation, I think that stock FI will become increasingly popular in the near future.

well they did it in the past, why wouldn't they do it again.. think about it.. the turbo'd 240/280/300 are soon to become collectors items and hard to come by.. they use to cost a pretty penny back in the day.. also think of the resale value.. compared to regular 350z.. i've seen the 350z's dipped down to the $11k range for the 03's. i've seen 300zx tt still in the high teen's which was a 91tt..

i get the feeling that they sold crap load more 350z's than the 300zx tt's....someone correct me if i'm wrong......i believe thay marketed the 350z for much bigger audience....pg rated (sux) vs, r rated (good) movies...more $$
yet they did produced a xxx (gtr) for a small group of perverts.

That's a good way of putting it.

TT's are overrated.

I think an 8:1 built block VQ would have been cool with a 10 psi eaton TVS on top of it.

Low end torque > Spool

Not sure but but you are probably right that the 350z out sold the 300zxTT. However back then you had your choice between the 300zx, supra, 3000gt, RX-7. Not to mention the domestic market had the camaro, firebird, vette, mustang.

When the 350z came out there was only the 350z. Possibly the STI and EVO but I'm not sure if it was 03 or 04 when they came out. On the domestic side it was only the GTO and mustang. Sure now we have the RX-8 but it's not really a competitor. The Eclipse moved up a notch being a V6 but still no where in the same league. The fact is that the 350z doesn't have much rivaling it so of course it's going to sell higher numbers compared to the 300zx. Your comparing a time period where there aren't very many sports cars in the same class as the 350z to a time period where there were many cars to chose from.

The 300ZX TT was an awesome car, but its high price was its downfall. It was the same for its sister cars, the Supra, 3000GT VR-4 and RX-7. The 350Z has a lesser production cost, and that's why it's beaten out the sales of its elder.

If they come out with a 4 cylinder turbo 240sx, then I can see them borrowing that motor for the Z.

I thought the 240 was supposed to get a variable compression ratio 1.5L with a small turbo?

I don't know?.. I figured it'd be a run of the mill 2 liter or 2.4 liter turbo. 1.5 liter w/ a small turbo sounds weak!

I still wish I could of afforded any one of those cars back in the 90's.
