This thread is pointless. You have people arguing about wanting a factory turbo Z without realizing it would be a piece of **** ball bearing turbo and like 25mm tops, effin nissan. Then you have the guys with no clue about a turbos potential, or practicality arguing that turbos are stupid, basing their only knowledge off the fact that the 350z is their first foreign car and they are domestic humpers boasting super chargers.

Only thing that will save this thread is this pic

As NA it had the power to be just as fast if not faster than cars with FI applications. (evo-sti) Not too many people bought those cars, and the ones that did realize driving a GO CART (evo) on a daily basis ain't so fun!! Besides Nissan cant have 2 SUPER CARS with the Z and the GTR! One of them has to be a sports car, and the Z took that spot.
agreed

Z=sports car
GTR=GT car

A TT Z will likely cut into the GTR market after all every Z since 06+ was rated at 300 at the crank we all know with FI that number would be in the 400s at the crank with a TT and that would be really hard to say we have 2 400+ cars in the dealership. There would be alot of overlaping customers. This is a nissan dealerhip not a porshe dealership where they can have that kind of performance option and have the marquee to make profit from it.

from the 240z/280z/300zx tt.. if i'm forgetting a model oppsie.. but yea.. what does the 350z get? just the nismo 350z, which i bet handles like its on rails. heck to think about it, even the s12/s13/14/15 has a turbo version.. but why skip the 350z?

i bet there will be a few of you that wouldn't mind driving a street legal turbo'd z..

well yea.. just a thought..
The 240,260,&280Z were N/A.

well, a high HP NA car wise has proven more profitable then the turbo offered versions and more cost effective. its about the bottom line really.

they never made a T 350Z because they achieved similar power goals with a NA V6. And then us Twin Turbo guys wouldn't feel as special. lol.

MR2s use to come supercharged. 87-89s I think.

If Nissan made 350Z with a twin-turbo, the cost would be more than 300ZX Turbo which was over $40K brand new. I used to own a GTi 1.8T before my Z, the turbo was blown in year 2 and was replaced with warranty which led me to the Z. When I had the VW, it is annoying to have to wait at least 1 minute for the turbo to cool down before turning off the car. I hate the feeling that when my friend/family used the car that they don't wait 1 minute before turning off the car. My cuz had a turbo timer which helps a lot, but still his turbo is still blown on his MR2. Bottom line, I rather have a N/A Z, or anything.

Well considering that the next gen Z is supposed to start at 35k yet only have 330-350hp I don't see the problem with offering a 40k FI version that has 380-400hp. I mean if you are going to place the Z near the price of a Vette you might as well have hp and performance similar to the Vette as well. I've said it before and I'll say it again. There are too many 400hp cars in the 38-45k range out already or coming with in the next year where Nissan can't afford to play in the same price range and only offer 330hp.

Besides, we all know many people here love to mod their Z but aren't you tired of spending lots of money for very little results. With FI basic bolt on's would yeild much greater results. As for the GTR sales I don't think a 380-400hp Z costing half of what the GTR does would cut into GTR sales. Nissan has already said it's going to keep production numbers low first off. Secondly, the GTR is more than just 473hp. Even a Z with 473hp wouldn't compete with the GTR. The GTR has so much more to offer so I doubt having a FI Z with roughly 100hp less power would cut into sales. Just my .02

nissan hit their desired goal and market with the 350z even if it left the purest and enthusiests out in the cold ,reguardless, nissan provided us a great platform with little competition in its class (at the time) and the aftermarket has now caught up to the point you can build any kind of beast you want... NA, supercharged, turbo, or nitrous....drag,drift or street

yes the 300zx had more initial potential with being boosted when it came to bang for the buck for bolt ons and boost contollers but to get big boy numbers you had to replace damn near everything (equivalent to doing a built motor and turbo system on a 350z so to me the potential is comparable...
But please dont sleep on a properly built and tuned 300tt they are sick fast and destined to be a classic along with the supra and rx-7

regardless of what the reasons, goals and future designs are/were/will be. i think that the dated vehicles of our time are a lot better then whatever is being made today.

240z and 260z didn't come factory turbo'd, however there were aftermarket kits available from varying manufacturers not to mention some home grown offerings to make the cars even more of a handling challenge.

P= Price of 300ZX

P(1+R)^T will give you a an estimate of the 300zx's price in today's dollars. The 350 looks like a better deal, right?
