I'm getting about 15 to 16 mpg.

My gas tank is broken and my little yellow light comes on, then off, then it says it's full, then it's empty.

I filled it up with almost 14 gallons 2 weeks ago and I barely drive it. I've only been able to get up to about 180 to probably 200 total miles. Before I had to fill it up again today.

I've tried to just say **** it and just drive it to see how long it reaches, but the last time I tried that I got stuck on the side of the freeway wondering what the hell happened to all the gas I just purchased, it was raining and it sucked being stuck like that, especially over gas. I barely got over 200 miles when that happened about 7 months ago. This has been going on for about 8 months or so.


Anyone else having this problem? It's a 2003 and I don't see any leaks or anything wierd going on. I do have an intake, exhaust, and an intake manifold, but these have been installed for a while now, we're talking years before this gas light and mpg shortcomings started happening.


I'm tired of dealing with this, especially when i'm already being raped for gas just like everyone else, on top of that I have to deal with this crap.

 

Get it fixed.

If it's not your gas tank reporting incorrect readings and not someone siphoning your gas, try replacing your air filter.

 

What are your driving habits?

 

If you drive it hard and only in the city 15mpg isnt far off.

when i first got my car i got around 17mpg city, now i get 19, hwy i get 32mpg.

 

Is there any air in your tires?

And are they round?

 

Sounds like yo may have the prob wher you can't fill it up all the way or the sending unit is acting up. What is the most gas you have ever put in it , you know its a 20 gallon tank.

 

20 gallon?? the most mine ever holds is 14-15

 

Go get it checked out...its a 20 gallon tank..your having some issues.

 

The low-fuel light illuminates when there are still several gallons in the tank.


Even after driving several miles with the light on, I still have only ever put 16 gallons in the tank, maximum.


My Xterra used to be the same way. Low-fuel light came on with four gallons still in the tank.

 

how is it an adult owns a car and seems to be surprised at the quantity of gas it holds? if you don't know how much gas your car holds, you've got bigger problems than a "broken" gas tank.

 

I have my 07 for almost a year now and the best i've ever gotten is 19MPG highway City 15-17

well when i fill up, the pump always automatically stops in the 16 and 17 range !! and my car is usually empty by the time i fill up !!

 

That's because the 93 octane gas is fatter by nature lol

 

15.9 is about my average over the last 30K miles.

 

ive driven my car hard and gotten around 15 mpg before. If you dont drive it much, and drive it a little hard and in the city when you do, that sounds about right. As for your gas tank, if its broken, why the hell dont you get it fixed??

 

i get 26 on the highway 19 in the city
oh and I've never put in more then 15 gallons on a complete tank up from empty.
I read the manual that said 20gallons but it must be all reserve /shrug
