what? if it's low mileage the engine should be under warranty. Not all 06's have the problem, mine doesn't. Also I assume you're talking about a manual here. AT's dont have the same engine and thus don't suffer from the oil consumption problem.

I have a manual '06 ZR with 9K miles and haven't had any oil consumption issues. I change the oil every 3k miles and everything has looked good so far.

Plenty of posts regarding the revup motor and its possibility of chewing up oil. My '06 is in the dealer now getting the V2 motor installed. Some burn oil, some don't, has nothing to do with how well maintained its been. If you do plan on buying this car, it would be in your interest to have the dealer run an oil consumption test on it. If it is not consuming oil then great news. If it is then there is the possibility the motor needs to be swapped out.

Like moflow said, not all '06's have this problem, but enough do that Nissan put the TSB out regarding this issue. Just be smart about the purchase. Best of luck getting your Z!

If you got a decent deal for the car. Go for it. If the engine burns oil, you're entitled to a brand new engine. You just have to go through the hassle of leaving it a the dealer, and finding a temporary car to use while its there. Worse comes to worst, you have a brand new engine.

It depends on what year, but either a standard VQ35 or a VQ35HR

There have been three versions of the VQ35 in the Z. The standard one, the rev-up and the HR.

AT's all had the standard engine until the 07 model year at which point everything switched to the HR engine. MT's got the revup in 05 for the track and 35th Anniversary models and in 06 all MT 350Z's got the revup.

I thought that 2003-2005 is the standard vq35de, except for the 2005 anniversary, which was a rev-up, 2006 rev-up, then 2007-2008 is the vq35hr. I didn't think that M/T or A/T had to do anything with it. Sucks that the A/T didn't see the rev-up engine, or maybe, it was a good thing!

yes, 06 is the only year with that problem, and I believe the 05 anniversary edition Zs.

and for clarification, the 06 roadster may have the DE, but the HR was introduced in 07, so I dont even know why were talking about it.

feel free to correct me if I'm wrong (like I need to remind people here hah)
