Fuel hose recall
hi guys, im purchasing a 350 from the states and bringing to canada.. however there is that fuel line recall on the car and inorder to import a car to canada there should be no recall on the car. so can you guys tell me how long it should take for them to perform the recall at a local dealer where the car is, and if i can just remove the recall without doing the job, since i wont be staying there for the night. thankss

that's a good idea, ill call and let them know. i have 3 Qs
1: Is this a Big job?
2: Was it really needed for you to do it or you just did it?
3: Is there any way to tell them to clear the recall without doing it??
thanks again guys.

Has to be done, takes a few hours, make sure they put your exhaust on properly afterward, have about an eight of a tank of gas when you bring it in or they won't do it.

to clear up a few things about recalls.
- call the dealership with your VIN, they can tell you all the recalls that have and have not been completed.
- the exhaust and rear suspension must be dropped to access the fuel tank and evap lines.
- you cannot do it yourself for two reasons.1- you cannot get the parts2-the recall would still apply because nissan does not know to clear it. certified nissan techs are the only ones who can do it.
- the dealership cannot just clear the recall, they are responsible for performing the recall because it is a safety concern. they would be stupid to clear it without doing it because they are opening themselves up for a law suit if your car ever had a problem with the parts they were supposed to put on.
like others have said, call your local dealer, have you VIN ready and schedule an appointment so they can have the parts there adn ready. drop the car off with as little gas in the tank (dropping a full gas tank SUCKS) as possible.
if there are no problems it should not take more than a day. this recall has been out for awhile, the dealer will definately know what you are talking about.

Don't import a Z from the US dude. You will never be able to sell it here afterwards. When I was buying my car I specifically would NOT buy an imported car. First off they are 15k and guys trying to sell them to me for 20k after driving it for a year (no thanks) and the dash and trip computer all read out in MPH and F which obviously is not ideal here in Canada.
The guys with the US cars wouldn't tell me it was an imported car until I asked. I looked back two months later on trader.ca and the same 5 cars were still on the trader. A blue one with black powder coated rims, a blue one lowered with stock wheels and a silver one etc.. Same cars, same owners, and the prices going down cause nobody wanted them.
If you are gonna keep it forever and don't care about the MPH issue (which is annoying cause KPH is only really small on the dial) then go for it. Just know that you will have a hard time selling the car if you ever want to.
