Default CD Changing in the Bose system

Has any else who has the Bose system noticed how fast it changed from one cd to the next. If you listen to an entire cd and just let it keep going, it will change to the next cd and start the 1st song almost instantly. If not for the change in artist, it wouble be hard to even tell it changed CDs. When switching from CD 1 to CD 3, 4, 5, or 6 there is a delay, but if CD 1 runs straight into CD 2 it is seemless. I'm not sure how they do it, but its pretty cool.

I have noticed this too. I imagine they must have two optical readers that can each play a CD. Going from one CD to the next requires a move to the first position no matter what.

My best guess.

i would bet that its a buffer or memory that allows that to happen. Just about all modern personal cd players do this.

as it reads a cd, it puts it into a 'buffer' and then plays it from there. so in reality the laser is maybe 10 seconds ahead of whats coming out of the speakers, that is done to prevent skips -- if the laser is jolted and skips, then there is a 10 second buffer that will keep playing the music stored in the memory for the laser to recover and continue on without the music actually stopping. some discmans have a buffer of over a minute long. so what is happening at an end of a disc is the laser reaches the end of the disc and moves onto the next one all the while the music is 10 seconds behind playing from the buffer.
