well i like my z alot alot,but i always wished i got a convertible. So now i am in a debate if i should go trade or just try and get a convertible. has anyone else done it or thought about it. Also i was looking for the thread for the convertible gallery but nothing. Thanks

 

absolutey love mine. Especially this time of the year - top down 99% of the time!

Pros: you can put the top down! You will hear the exhaust better. You will get a tan Unlimited head room

Cons: trunk is very small so you really cannot carry a lot. Other than that, the chassis is not as stiff as the coupe.


Really - go out and drive one and see how you like it. Either way - enjoy!

i own both a 350z convertible and a hard top. I will tell you the pros and cons. Note, that my convertible is an automatic transmission so my GF can drive it as well and plus it's my daily driver and i didn't want a manual in traffic.


Hard top pros:

Looks good all the time, roomier, with the windows down it is A LOT quieter than the convertible, is cooler in the summer

Hard top cons : not much really, lol.


Convertible pros:

Quieter interior, looks great with the top down, very very quiet with the top down and i've driven a lot of convertibles, nice automatic top with a hardtop cover,

Convertible cons: Loud wind noise with the windows down since there is a vertical wall behind you instead of air going to the hatch like the hard top, looks not so good with the top up, heat goes into the interior since of the thin top,

 

i just drove one, my concern is that i like to do track alot and i would only have to get a nice blue cusco roll cage.haha...but in all honesty im getting alot of sh*t from my friends saying i might as well get another car instead of two of the same. Now when i was younger i went through almost 6 different civic before i grew up and got a real car. So yeah the real question is if its gay for me to trade it for a vert....???.....im dying to get it in anniversary yellow

people said the same thing to me, that i was dumb to buy the same car. But i love the 350z so much, having a version where i can put the top down, it's very hard to explain. I know the roadster people can relate. It takes that sportiness to a whole new level. In the garage, a hard top and a convertible, nothing beats the feeling i get with the cars sometimes.

I would pray the 370 has a targa option. I believe the transfer to targa will be a huge headache. (seals, framing, stability, etc)

 

true about the headache that most come with it...i wonder if you go targa if the roll cage set up would be the answer to the stability .

 

i would def do the targa, though i need to learn more about it before going through with anything. ill do it once we are told more about it, and given pricing (that is not ridiculous).

the convertible does look really girly with the top up (just an opinion, dont want to offend anyone), but i like it with the top down. i went to my local dealership and i tried it out and i would love to own one, but not as much as my coupe.

 

i got a touring model. It's definitely a nice car, my hardtop looks faster though

I LOVE my Roadster, just wish I could of found a manual one... It still handles very well, not much of a difference between it and the coupe. I've driven both at the limit (autocross, spirited mountain runs, etc) and they are very very close. Only thing you may notice is a little scuttle shake over bumpy roads but its not very much.

I know some people say the chassis isn't as stiff, and i'm not sure on the chassis structural rigidity rating for both the Z Roadster and the Coupe, but have these people driven the car on a track near its limit? Just driving around town doesnt tell you everything you need to know about how a car performs...

All I can say is, are you still going to drive it in the winter? I don't know about you but i'll be depressed when I can't put the top down in the winter.
