i test drove one a while ago, and it was such a blast to drive. i loved hearing the exhaust, instead of mostly just the engine. only thing that turns me off is that i think it looks ugly with the top up.

Yeah the top is ugly... it spends most of the time down here. It's not until late October when I have to put it back up and leave it up until mid February. I can drive comfortably around town with the top down and 45 degrees outside. Just wear a good jacket, have the heater on, and the windows up and its fine... And thats saying a lot because I bloody hate cold.

But if your going to have the top up more often than not, then I say stick with the coupe... its just dissapointing to always drive your convertible with the top up, defeats the purpose of the car!

And the ZR is only a few hundred pounds more in terms of weight. But its just such a damn fun car it doesn't really matter.

Top up....the look has really grown on me.

And - I'm top down until @end of Nov around here in DFW area! In fact - had the top down a few times in Jan & Feb too.

If you get a vert..get a car that was meant to be a vert. they look/function better.

Hi guy I notice I get more attention with my silver z roadster park in front of my work place. I got cops and people walking by stop staring at my roadster top up imaging if I have my top down with my led blue light behind my my seat , I got a lot of attention. People kept stopping to ask how much I pay for my Z. I have rear carbon fiber diffuser with Megan cat back with titanium tip, side veilside carbon side skirt and front nismo lip. My next upgrade would be the nismo v3 front bumper, too bad I live in New York so I can't use the convertible in the winter. I never regret getting it. I notice a few block away where I work there is a burn orange coupe. I realize it does not draw the same attention as mine would ,even though the orange color is beautiful.

Lay Z, I live just north of you in Jupiter FL and wanted to do the same thing. Problem is, it would have taken too much money out of pocket to get into a similar convertible (I have an 03.) If your car is paid off I'd say keep the Z in case you ever want to do track days and buy a first gen Miata for less than 5 grand. Check autotrader; I just did.
