get the new tire to be on the safe side, I know it's expensive....but it's better than you getting into an accident due to tire blowout

I had to do a plug on a rear Michelin PS2 - lasted the last 10k miles of the tire life. Did several track days with no problems - got lucky.

It was not a matter of questioning anyone's motive. My question was not intended to be a flame. I was curious as to why someone would buy a high perfomance car and drive only 60-65 mph. I would suspect that is not the case with most Z owners. If my question came across differently or I offended anyone I apologize.

tire shops around here will repair that for free - they want your business when you need new tires.

1 - The 350Z is not a "high performance sports car". It's just a sports car. If it was "high performance", it'd be running under 13 in the 1/4 mile.

2 - Just because you have a certain car doesn't mean you have to drive it like people say you should. That's like saying if you own a Honda, you have to go out and street race and do e-brake drifts to be cool and not fail.

Just had a nail in my tire taken care of today. Figured it would be better if Nissan pulled it out rather than me. Charge was $39. Not sure if they patched the tire or not.

$39 on par for a stealership I guess.

A well done plug is as reliable as a new tire. Some shops will install no more that 2 plugs.

Please don't plug a tire. A patch installed from the inside is a much better method, that is virtually fail-safe. I've had numerous nails in the past with my Maxima with Falkens, and all were patched. I drove those Falkens until the very end without any problems.

Same with my dad's FX, which was a victim of two nails - again, both patched and not plugged. One of the Michelins on my Z has a patch too, it's a fail-safe method of fixing a tire.

The Tire Rack warranty will reimburse $30 max for a repair. Cheap warranty I guess.
