We have 04's at my work too. Basically, when your no-nav door is open, pull it forward as far as possible like your about to close it. Thats how they are. They just dont I guess "hide" itself anymore. Just pops up and down.

How did you find out when yours arrived in LA? My dealer told me mine would be here Sept 3 but not sure now. I can't get any additional info from them. It would be nice to know that it has at least arrived in the US.

Default got my 04 coupe today

I picked up my 04 Enthusiast coupe today. Been busy ALL day... I just got on the computer 1 hour ago. The "non-nav door" is exactly like the picture posted by Dissident in https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ads#post408373 . It just sticks up and out when open and doesn't go back. At least the open and close motion is damped.

I couldn't find anything that I'd call knee pads and certainly nothing like the post by fairladyZ in Japan's brochure. Perhaps early 04 don't have them. My dealer knew nothing about what was new w/04 and said mine was first 04 coupe he's delivered. When I mentioned knee pads, he's was like "what?" and hadn't heard of them.

I will pics of multiple angles of "non-nav door" when I get a chance.

I've got higher res pics (unmodified originals) up at http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289256505 but you'll need an account (free) there to see them.

Thanks for the photos. The "non-Nav door" looks really ugly. I wonder if I can change it back to the one in 03 model and how much will it cost. People who's going to install an after-market LCD monitor or Nav can't really see the entire screen with this ugly looking door.

I don't think the non-nav door is that ugly, at least it's easy to open and close unlike the previous one. Yeah, I do see your point about aftermarket stuff.

Sorry cwerdna, nothing personal, but that new nav door is UUUUUUUUUUUGLY!
Compare it to the 2003:

What cckleung was talking about is that the molding around the cubby hole would make a LCD/VGA installation not as clean looking as it would be in the 2003.
Having a screen surrounded by, basically, fuzz, does not look very nice.

Haha swoobyz, no offense taken. I've seen the old non-nav door in operation on my coworker's Z to compare (he also looked at my 04 on the same day).

cwerdna, I had the exact same experience picking up my 04 enthusiast, nobody there knew what I was talking about when I mentioned prewiring for satelite radio or knee pads (it was the first 04 in their lot). They looked at me like I was crazy until i showed them on nissanusa.com. So, I don't have the knee pads either, and I think it says somewhere on the website something about the knee pads being 'late availability', so i would imagine later production 04's will have them.
