Default Too many 350z on the road...

I live in LA, and currently drive a Honda Prelude. Thinking of buying a 350z but one thing that bugs me about the Z is I see more 350z than I see Preludes and I feel like my car won't be as exclusive anymore..

No offense, what would lead you to the conclusion that a Honda Prelude is exclusive? You don't see them b/c they aren't made anymore. If you want limited market buy an S2k. More #s mean more affordable fun in the aftermarket.

Hate to tell you this, but Cali is one of the most popular places for Zs. Of course you're going to see several of them.

Nissan never intended this car to be some rare car--they wanted something that would sell well, and be popular across different demographics. They succeeded.

If you're REALLY concerned about the exclusivity factor, you might want to look at an S2K instead.

I didn't say that My Prelude is exclusive, I was just saying that for a it's weird how I see more 350z than Preludes.

I knew there'd be Z's all over the place within a year, but I still got one because it's the most fun for me to drive. It sells because it's good.

Default Your problem is...

...you need to move dude

We have only 10 Nissan dealerships in the whole state of Kansas. I searched the dealers today, (on NissanUSA website) there are only a total of 18 Z's for sale in the whole state...

Of course, I've driven some roads here where I'm the only car on the road.

Peace

I'm glad they are not "exclusive" like the too-expensive late model 300ZX's, it means that they are selling and won't be discontinued.

Want something exclusive for 30K ? Buy an Audi TT. You'll get exclusivity at the expense of performance, reliability, etc.

30K isn't exactly an exclusive price point. Kids right out of college can easily afford a 30K car.

It's always like that though, You notice the car you are looking for. I never noticed old Mitsu Mirages until I started looking into getting one. Or I never saw any Sport Tracs until my wife got one.

Now california may be different, but most likely if you actually counted the prelude vs 350's you drove past in a day, you'd see alot more preludes.

Haven't had the "problem" of seeing a whole lot of Z's in the Bay Area... I mean, during my last weekend trip to LA I saw more Z's on the road in 2 days than I see in the bay for 1.5 weeks. I will see two on one day, then see another maybe another one five days later or something.

Well, since you're in LA, just reassure yourself that you'll always see more BMW's and Carreras than 350z's.

I totally agree. We also have to take into consideration that about 34 thousand 350Z's sold in the continental US which has a population in the billions.

The Z is an impractical car. Two seater which causes many families to look elsewhere. This reason alone will always make the 350z a rarer car than most.

Haha there are not billions in the cont. US!! There are less than 300 million in the US! The WORLD is like 6 billion.

Smile You could look at it this way...

The more Z's, the more likely independent companies will make parts and accessories for the Z. This in turn will allow Z owners to make their Z a little different from the average Z. And more parts, with competitive prices, should be available for those of us who keep their Z's a long time.

Another bonus is people will not be bugging you with comments and questions as often as they do now. I used to drive an antique car to work everyday and finally got tired of all the people who wanted to talk about it. Seriously, it does get old after a while.

lots of people are buying them for a reason. the s2k has never been a big seller...also for a reason. buy it and mod it and bam there's your exclusivity.
