Default Someone smashed my Z while it was parked. UPDATE: PICS

Parked and covered my car outside my apartment Sunday (10/5) night, I walk to work and hadn't driven it all week. Get back home and go out to my car at about 6:30PM on Friday (10/10) and notice there's a tear in my cover between the front wheel and the driver's side door. Take off the cover to see the quarter panel completely knocked in, about 3' tall by 1' wide and about 4 inches deep right between the door and the wheel. The fender was pushed in to about 0.5" from the front tire, the hood is pinched shut because everything was pushed in so much, and the drivers side door won't open more than maybe 1/3 of the way. No note, no nothing, just a huge dent. Reported the accident immediately officer came and took my statement, got my info, and took some photos. Reported the accident to Allstate Friday night I'm covered with towing service and rental minus my deductible which is only $500.00.

Car is getting towed today on a flatbed up to DM Autobody in Van Nuys, CA which is the official body shop of my dealership (Miller Nissan). Anyone have any experience with this shop? I assume since it's what a bunch of dealers use it's gotta be good.

It is just a car, and it can't be fixed but I'm genuinely disappointed. People have no regard for other's property. As far as I'm concerned this person just stole $500 from me, and probably $2000.00 from the tow company, the body shop, etc. Not to mention the depreciation on the car, thank God I'm not reselling as I love this car to death. On the upside, like my buddy said, at least the car's still there, his car was stolen a year ago.

Anyways, just wanted to share my story, I'll post the pictures I took later today. I just can't wait for this to all be resolved and have the car back as good as new.

As for now consider my 2008, up till now, pristine black enthusiast 6spd on the DL.

EDIT PICTURES BELOW

My roommate left his Mustang GT parked with his window rolled down. 45 minutes later he comes back out to his car and there's the driver side panel kicked in bad & someone dumped mustard all over his driver seat. People are messed up, having no respect for other people's property. $500 deductable to fix the driver door.

No matter what kind of car you drive, a shitty beater or an exotic porsche, there's no justification for any kind to mess with other people's ****. i use to valet park in las vegas, and i parked this guy's porsche, it had been deeply keyed, down to the metal all the way across his hood.

i carry a telescopic steel rod in my car & a glock in my home. if you've ever been guilty of this kind of activity, hope you get caught in the act, and may the Lord help your ***.

I would venture to say someone was drunk when they ran into your car. Any video cameras around?

As crappy as this sounds, this is the kind of senseless accident that fuels the American economy. Money for the towing company, body shop, and insurance deductible, I believe this is what George W. was thinking about when we got our stimulus checks earlier this sumer.

Sorry, it just came out I couldn't stop the comment.

That sucks, I feel for you. About a week ago i came back to my car to find somebody had stomped my front bumper. It tore off about half the clips attatching it to my car and bent the fender. It was parked at my house. Hope your car gets fixed soon.

So much hate and envy in the world.
I am sad to hear that someone would do that and just walk away.

Sucks...On a positive note, check out how resilient those fender liner screws are. Pretty cool that the paint seems unblemished as well, despite getting swiped. Quality.

Sorry to hear. I know what your going through. The eact same thing happen to me. No letter of apology, same hit & run, same spot on the car, about the same damage.
I was parked way out so there were no cars around me hardly and still some gutless piece of 5h!+ managed to hit my car some how.

The car was covered. IMHO Nissan gives the Z's a pretty low quality paint job. Pretty disappointed with that.
