After just a few days????

My Z was damaged by a car wash, (I know, I know) and I dropped it off to get a new set of rocker panels Saturday.

I thought since I don't drive the Z that often, it would be no big deal, but I have apparently conditioned myself to see it (and smile) every time I go through the garage. Now that it's gone, I still look, out of habit, and see....nothing.

I love my Z, but I have had the car for 4 years and never been bothered when I was away from it.

Until now.

Maybe I'm just worried she won't be the same when she comes out. (It's just the plastic rocker panels?)

Maybe I just feel guilty for taking her through a car wash in the first place.

I don't know. I am 36, and have owned a lot of cars. (Even wish I had kept a couple of them), but I can't say I was ever bothered by a car's absence like this before.

Anyone else have automotive separation anxiety?

 

what you're worried about is if they're are abusing it, chances are they aren't, but there are always ****** out there, and yes, i believe we all share the separation anxiety

dont worry it shouldnt be too much of a surprise to miss your Z! Shoot my Z is at the shop right now and its been there for almost 4 weeks. Everyday im just waiting for time to past by so i can get my Z back again! Good luck!

i totally feel wat u mean, when i had my R33 skyline and it was in the shop to put in a new clutch, i was just depressed, but when i saw it again to pick it up, it looked sooooo damn good, like i just got the car the first time again, like this cant be my car its too sexy, lol

Well ive been out here for almost 4 months out of my 6 without my Z and i miss it like crazy. Its gonna be bad when i get back, the fastest we can go here on base is 8 mph. lol

 

damn that sux lottness.

Is it an air force base? see if you can get a 1/4 mile run with the other commando's on the air strip!!

 

So, what happened? That's the reason I only hand or spray wash my Z. I will never take my Z to a drive-thru car wash.

 

I'm sure a LOT of folks actually take their car through a car wash - they just won't admit it LOL.

I used to with my 2004 GT, mainly because I just often don't have to time for a hand wash etc. Busy schedules and other things going on - it happens.

It's actually why my NISMO is often dirty or I'll ask the garage to detail it, because of my schedule, a hand wash/wax is a luxury not just for my baby now but for me too - I like doing it, just have a ton of **** to do.

The NISMO in a way was a good thing because it can't go through an automated car wash or it'll tear the spoiler off

Mine was away for a while recently, and yes - I do get car separation myself.

I also find (especially with the NISMO now) that all other cars (rentals etc) handle like pigs on roller skates... totally floaty and non responsive.

 

i hear what your all saying. BUT when my car is away it's usully parke din the GF's garage while im whipping/ fixing her EVO!

oh and she dont touch the Z!!!!!!! mu hahahahah to afraid in case something happens she knows i'd be crying like a maniac!

 

Sure you can go through a drive through car wash, as long as it's a touch-less car wash drive through. Other then that if you don't have the time, then pay someone to hand wash it if your baby is important to you.

 

I drop the car at powder coat shop for two week and My Z is the only car that I have.
So, I have to ask so many helps from my friends to drop me to work I completely understand how you feel.

Well I've been told that even a touchless one might be too strong for the rear wing. I wouldn't want to risk it - seems silly to do so just for a clean car.

And that's exactly what I do - half and half pay if no time, and do it myself if I do.
