Default general question about 07+ Z...

Im really scared to post this cause i fear this is gonna turn into another auto vs manual thread, BUT... i have an 05 enth auto (non rev) and am considering selling it or trading it in for an 07+ manual..

I love my car, but it is just too damn slow... so i want something else. I had the spacer, exhaust, TPs, intake on my 05 auto and really didnt see a big improvement over stock...

Now I dont need to go super fast, and im wondering if getting an 07+ manual and some NA bolt-ons (spacer, intake, HFCs/TPs, exhaust) and a good tune will get me a noticable increase in performance.... or should i just look at some other cars all together??

I would really love to hear peoples opinions on this... especially the people that went from an 03-06 auto to an 07+ stick.

Thanks in advance

p.s. another reason im looking into another Z is because i have a pretty killer audio setup in my current Z that i dont want to sell and can just tear it all out and put it into the new Z.

FYI, theres no "spacers" for the HR, and 300whp is obtainable with a CAI, test pipes, exhaust and a a tune or reflash.

thats right... i thought they fixed the "problem" for the 07+, but wasnt sure...

300 at the wheels would be sick, but it sounds too good to be true..

With respect I think the DE vs HR motor is pretty well played out.

The HR responds better to less.

Default How slow is slow?

If you are really disappointed in your current ride, I'm not sure if a '07+ is going to satisfy. Take one for a drive - see for youself.

Now - if you are saying that you simply would rather have a manual instead of an auto - so be it. But there is not a substancial difference in performance between the two.

If you want significantly more straight line performance, you might think of (flame on!) a 'vette...or something along those lines....

Good Luck

Yes. I still think my mostly stock 04.5 is fast LOL. I am still awaiting my plenum from Kinetix to be re-gasketed, and add some NISMO stickers, then I'll see 300whp.

Comparing HR to DE, it's not as big of difference as you think.

Edit: I mean that in regards to your "butt-dyno", there isn't a huge difference. Among other things, in terms of actual engine components (80% revised), higher redline, and a slightly better response to mods, then yes, there is a noticeable difference.

There is definitely a noticeable difference but its not that much. Test drive and compare?

First gear WOT pulls pretty hard to me and HR can get 300 hp with a tune and couple mods, a member A.H. has 316 to the wheels I think.
