Eastcoast Frustration
OK Nissan...Believe me when I say this. The frustration on the eastcoast is getting out of hand. It's really hard to sit here and watch everyone getting their cars out in Cali (west coast). Dealers aren't telling us anything new and everyday it seems that members of our forum not to mention those that are not are getting there Z's. I'm financed and ready to go...I want my freakin car. Please post if you need to vent. I feel much better now.
Ordered March 3rd and I really feel there is no reason I shouldn't be driving my Z today. Oh yeah, for those in the DC Metro area...There's a Z-Fest on the 7th of September In Laurel MD at the Racetrack. I plan on drivin my NEW Z there if I can get delivery. Not getting the Z's on both sides of the US for distribution at the same time isn't right. It's just plain torcher!!!!

I think the boat lands in newark today or tomorrow, NSANY and GETTINONIT are going to have pics. Thing is the cars sit there for at least 5 days, getting all the options like the kick plates and carpets installed. Then the trucks come in. Figure another week before customers get keys.
you think your bad, I have an october estimated delivery. By end of october. I still have to sit through the rest of Auguest, all of September which btw is my birthday, then once in august it could still arrive end of october. I feel like im back in grammer school waiting for summer to arrive.

well, i emailed zisme yesterday afternoon. i was very polite and explained that i knew that he was very busy and all, but asked for his help or a reasonable explanation. this lack of VIN after my Z seems that it should have been on a boat by now is killing me! impatience, irritation, and all around insanity have finally kicked in full swing! talk about a mental rollercoaster! i feel like i should be on meds for this one. i hate this preorder program while at the same time i love it. just like i hate that people that ordered in may while i ordered february 4 will get their cars before me and still love it at the same time. damn nissan, damn you people that have ordered after us that have VINs or cars, and thank you both tremendously in the same breath! well, i will resume waiting on zisme or nna or my dealership to let me know why i have a car that was built almost two months ago not on a boat and why my september delivery month definitely appears to be turning into october very quickly and it hasn't changed on dealer paper!(collapses in heap of self-centered z-ness on the floor)

I cant stand the waiting, i constantly check this site and all others and im starting to think im a looser for being so "obsessed" with my car. I just want it now! Yes my dealer also has nothing on my car as well. I would suppose that it is possible that the car can be on the boat, but not have a vin in the system. I think anything is possible judging by this whole program. Nothing is gauranteed. but they should make it fun to wait, they assume we dont care about these cars? im starting to get really mad now so I must stop typing.

Yeah, I feel your pain. I know it makes sense logistically, but I'm getting sick and tired of reading about all the deliveries on the left coast, while the east coast is being shown NO love yet.
Hopefully tomorrow's journey will bear some fruit, and we'll have some pics of cars coming off the boat. In either case (pics or no pics), I'm definitely planning on coming down to my dealer's office with a pizza and a 12-pack and he and I will start running some reports and placing a few phone calls. I'm tired of feeling like the only guy without a VIN who ordered at the absolute first possible second in January.

I feel that I have been fairly lucky then. I ordered at the end of january, and recently recieved a copy of the fax sheet sent by NNA to my dealer. This sheet included VIN #, production month, and delivery date of 9/2 if everything goes as planned. The last couple of weeks have been tough. I am guessing that this will be one of the earliest deliveries in the area. I am so anxious to see the car and drive it. I have been looking for a picture of what I ordered (chrome silver track model) but, have only seen the touring in chrome silver. I'm dying to see that color with the rays, aero kit, and brembo brakes. The black track that raceboy bought looks mean. Hope you all hear something soon!

I'm right there with NSANY...
If ZISME does or is reading this "PLEASE HELP US OUT"
There has been no consistint data realyed to any of us.
This was really cute listen to this:
(Keep in mind I order my car back in January, the 15th to be exact pretty much as soon as I could)
My Dealer called me today to let me know that my Z is on it's way but there was going to be a "short delay" in delivery. Instead of the first week of Sept it would the second week of Sept. People are getting their cars early and I'm getting a short delay.
So I asked again if he had my VIN and of course he didn't. He said he should be getting them next week.
Someone please explain this to me... If the VINs are recorded when the car is on the boat, and my car is going to be here the second week of sept. Shouldn't I have my VIN by now. This was good too, he said your name is on "one" of the cars coming in. (what about the car I ordered?) I know these dealers are "tools" when it comes to anything more then lining their pockets with cash, but come on buddy the cars are selling themselves maybe you could do something to earn that commission. If anyone from Nissan is listening please help out just give us something new some people have their cars already and I haven't had my car's status changed in 2 months.
I'm starting to worry, if tommorrow I see Zs coming of the boat in Newark, and I don't have my VIN by Monday. I will know that my car still is MIA. (which really sucks) How could this be. I ordered this car 8 months ago shouldn't that mean I get car before someone who ordered 2 or 3 months ago.

Come on guys...i don't think you're thinking this through completely...as Todd says, geographically speaking we are much further away. Answer this question honestly, and think about your answer...
If you were in California, and you found out your 'ship had come in'...your car is sitting in port somewhere, and Nissan decided to wait to release them until every dealer had them...wouldn't you ask, "the cars are here, why the hell can't they just give them to us? Why do we have to wait for the East coasters?"
I know that's EXACTLY what I would be thinking if I was in Cali. Just be happy for them, its almost here!

To sum up the linked post a North Jersey dealer I called said he had confirmed info on or about 9/12 delivery of all his pre-orders. There are two boats landing in Newark, both by the end of this week. So they are coming but this waiting is beginning to suck.
And for the above posts whining is allowed, you know the saying misery loves company. So if you think its ridiculous, use that little button at the top left of your browser click it and read another post. Simple, don't waste your time telling us whiners not to whine because we're going to anyway... At least till our cars show up, then you won't hear a peep from me I'll be about breaking my new baby in...

I am very surprised that east coast people think that the cars in California should have been held so that everyone gets their cars at the same time. I can't understand that logic. The sooner people get their Zs the happier I am (I will be more happy when I get my Z, however). I like hearing the impressions of new Z owners, it allows me to live vicariously through them until my Z shows up. Someone getting their Z later, does not allow you to get your Z one second earlier.
BTW Zrated, be careful of that Sept 2 deliverey date. Sept 2, generally refers to September 2002, NOT to the second day of Sept, which BTW is Labor Day, a rather unlikely day to get your Z.

Listen I don't think anyone was expecting Nissan to hold the cars on the West coast till the East coast one's showed. At least I wasn't. (That's nutz)
But some of you are very lucky to have dealers that relay information to you on a regualr basis. But some of us have dealers that don't have a clue. And it's very frustrating to some of us, that we can not even get our VIN numbers, or expected delivery dates. When you find out people are getting their cars it just adds fuel to the fire. It's really just another reason to complain...
So take it easy on the east coasters, especially us Jersey folks, we have to deal with the fact that we don't have our cars and that we live in Jersey. So cut us some slack...

I ordered mid May in Massachusetts and my package number was 4958. Just talked to my dealer and the car is not yet made so no VIN. Projected delivery is December 14th

Don't whine???? Are you kidding me. Mine and many others patience is at zero...I have exactly none left. Forget living vicariously by reading other guys post of how the Z drives....I want to make my own dreams.
1. My dealership has no information other than the usual blabber. I can't even get a two week window on the ETA. WTF...I have a VIN that ends with 0799, I'm financed, and I'm sharing my wife's Highlander. I have to drop her off at school (Teacher), pick her up for the past 2 weeks now.
2. Nobody is hating on the Westcoast. What we're saying is if Nissan released the Z on the West last week they shouldn't make the East wait 3 to 4 freakin weeks afterwards. There are ways to close the gap of ships landing at ports. West gets there's first COOL....East get's theres 4 week later...WHAT?
3. You can't tell pre-orders who ordered 8 months ago that whining isn't going to make their car get here any faster. They have/want to vent let them do that. A lot of the guys that are able to show restraint probably ordered only 2 months ago or less.
You know what. I'm tired of looking at the pictures, reading about what the car can do and how some guy got a ticket in his Z in Guam. I'm tired of playing with my little Pre-order packet CD making the engine REV. (I know I'm not the only one) I've been to the car shows, I've been on this site almost every night for the past 6 months. I've done my homework teacher....Now it's time to play. I just want my Z delivered and some Nissan guy smiling and saying, "Thanks for your PATIENCE".

You have got to be kidding me! You say you have no information, now you tell us you have a freaking VIN! I ordered BEFORE you and don't have a damn VIN yet! If your's is #799, then yours was built before a lot of other people that ordered before you. So you should be very happy! I guess I should be whining instead. However, I have been told mid-Sept., but have no VIN to prove it. Since you have a VIN, that means your car has been shipped and is on it's way and should get here within a month, maybe much sooner. Also, the east coast is not receiving cars 4 weeks after the west coast. It's more like 2 weeks. Remember the ship had to go through the Panama Cannal to get here. Geez man....

TODD.....I never said I had no information from my dealer...I said I don't have any new information...and since I got my VIN I haven't gotten anything other than,"I don't know". Having a low VIN# means nothing when people who may have ordered in late May on the Westcoast are getting their cars before the guys who ordered in January on the Eastcoast. YOU tell me..."Is that fare?" I know life isn't fair right...That's my Gripe...You not having a VIN number is also what this Frustration is all about. I don't know when you ordered but if its anytime before April your car is probably somewhere finished. Did your dealer call you and say guess what Mr. Todd your car is on its way? NOT.... The fact that I love this car and that it's not in my hand after I put my hard earned cash on the line is a problem that we all share. I'm gonna whine till I'm driving off the lot with it. Didn't I see a thread where somebody in Chicago is picking up there Z tomorrow. HOW ??? How is this possible? Did some truck go and pick his car up from Cali? I don't think so and we won't get answers from the bull the dealerships keep feeding us. You may not like it but I know I have a point. Others agree as well.
Just remember, Nissan told us from the start that it would probably (no guarantees here) that the car would be in between Aug. and Oct. We agreed to that. So if it's not here by the end of Oct, then you can ***** all you want. But 8,000 people ordered Z's so far and they can't all get here the same day. Also, producing cars is a big, complicated job and because of Just in Time (JIT) parts delivery, they can't necessarily build them in the order the were ordered.
So just sit tight and it will be here before you know it. I obviously want mine to, but I'm not going to yell at Nissan just a week after they started deliveries....

Allow me to explain my frustration in greater detail, so as to not be quantified as "whining".
I'll go out on a limb and say that there's probably not more than a handful of people who have been waiting for the chance to buy this car than me. I've been to countless auto shows, through 4 cylinder models, prototypes, etc, and ordered at the first possible opportunity in January.
Between then and now, I've read countless articles, seen every TV review, read every post from every Tom, Dick, and Harry who ordered (or didn't order) a Z.
Now, the conventional wisdom has been that the VIN is available 24-48 hours after the boat leaves Yokohama. Dealer reports are updated shortly thereafter with more accurate delivery info, etc.
Seems that most of the country has done fairly well in getting VIN numbers in a timely fashion. However, my research has shown that according to NNA, my car has been built, yet I have no VIN, no +/- delivery date, and no real feel that the car is on its way. (and this is NOT a function of good dealer/bad dealer, since they're only able to provide the info that NNA provides to them).
All I ask for is equality in how these orders are dealt with. By anyone's standards, this is a reasonably small database of information to manage. How hard is it to ensure that everyone gets their info in a reasonable timeframe?
Now, I'm not bitter at the people on this board, nor the happiness that they surely feel behind the wheel.
What I AM bitter about is that it seems that some orders have better details than others. Mine seems to be one of the ones with a bit less detail. And quite frankly, given the fact that I consider myself one of the bigger Z fans on the planet, I think it would have been nice to have NNA deliver mine on the double with a goddamn bow on it for being such a loyal customer.
And yes, I realize that logistically it's impossible to tell a real Z car fan from a poseur, but it would be nice if justice could be served now and again.
Now, if you construe the above as "whining" then you need to invest in a 3-credit course in basic logic.
