it seems like the more i read on this board, the more i read about people getting banned, or threatened to be banned.

sometimes it's understandable, like when someone posts nudie content in a thread that may get people who read this board at work in trouble.

other times, it seems fascist. like when someone questions the "greatness" of the 350z. And if the user isn't banned, the thread that he started is permanently closed. Now i thought that I could "Post anything 350Z related" in the "general" board. at least that is what it says....but i guess not!

I hope this post doesn't get me banned!

IF you start cusing alot and posting nude pics. Start spaming or creating the same tread over and over or disrespecting people not just the car....You can talk some smack about the Z but once you start a flame war it gets us involved.

I can only think of 2 people getting baned here in 6 months...

 

i've hardly noticed any of this. With exception to a couple of consistant pests, i believe the "we ban when we want" is blown WAY out of proportion. Hell, if i were to make a list with the times the mods threw around those words.....it wouldn't be worth the bandwith that it takes up.

well, if the actual banning doesn't happen, there still seems to be alot of "threatening" to be banned. More so than on any of the other 5 or 6 message boards i frequent.

it reminds me of when i was a kid, and my mom told me to stop being bad, or else she'd call the police on me

The operative word you used in your last post is also the key one: KID.

If you act that way you will be treated that way.

Criticism has always been accepted and many members have criticized aspects of the car.

Criticism does not equal misinformation, name calling and creating threads merely for the personal ego stroke of the fool engaged in that behavior.

That is not facism, a word often thrown around by people who have no understanding of what it truly means, it is juvenile.

I'm sure those other boards you frequent are full of well spoken and erudite car enthusiasts who like to curse and call each other names on their time off.

This board is a place where people with a certain preference congregate to share ideas. Much like the TV, if it's not your cup of tea and the rules are too "strict" for you, the choice is easy.

Remember it is a choice. That's the beauty of it all.

 

I find this board to be very excellent. I find great info and the people here are usually a lot more mature than most of the other boards out there. I stopped going to one board cuz the people were just acting damn stupid and just got on my nerves. This board has no room for tards. And I hope that they keep it that way. It's not being facist, its just rooting out the pests. Just think of it as the Orkin Man getting rid of all the pests so one can live in peace.

 

I agree that this board threatens to ban people a lot more than other boards, and to that, all I can say is . . .

HALLALUJAH !!!!!!!

This board has a much more civil tone than any other board, but its very hard to maintain that civil tone. I think its precisely the closed threads, and threatened bans that allow this board to maintain a civil tone.

Now, on occasion the mods will go over board, and close a thread that I think is just "spirited" while on other occasions they leave something open that I think should have been closed, but noone is going to agree with EVERY decision a mod makes. I think overall they do a helluva job of keeping a collegial tone on this board. I will never forgot the thread at zcar where the sum total of two posts in a thread was (and I kid you not)...YOU'RE A ***!!!....NO, YOU'RE A ***.... If theatening people keeps that kindof juvenile crap out of here....bring on the threats.

 

Hey, if you don't like this board, there's FreshAlloy and ZCar.

I really like this board because for some reason the juveniles and jerkasses don't ruin everything like what has happened over at Rx7forum. Everyone here is very mature, and it's such a relief.

 

Speaking for the mods we appreciate the general level of support from the members. We all try to be tolerant of others but there are definately more things we do not tolerate here than on other boards. As ZBarrister said, it is a choice , stay and be a part of the group if you like. If this group AND its rules do not suit you then please feel free to go elsewhere.

As for Banning there have been a total of 5 banned since the inception of MY350Z. Not bad for approximately 7 months,3000 plus members, and many potential "issues".BTW the fifth occured today and is a temporary suspension.)

Personally, I like it here.

 

I really appreciate the mods, Zcar was my first home but it got way out of line. People were calling each other names back and forth. I mean this isn't 1st grade.

I just hope it's OK to be sarcastic (my middle name). Sometimes I like to mix it up a little or put someone down (Only in fun, never in a mean way). I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I hope it doesn't start to get people banned either.

Heh, if you are a republican you could go on every board, cussing, starting flame wars, posting nudi pics and then one someone else does it claim it's immoral and ban them.

Sounds to me like you've only read a few select posts relating to banning. I happen to like the tight ship on this site. I would hope this site continues to be run in an adult manner and not like a bunch of childish adolescents.

To Jay and all the mods keep up the good work. I strongly believe the masses are behind you 100%.

I agree w/ ABYSS, there's definitely more threat of a ban than any other boards I visit, but sadly some people only respond to threats and punishment.

Go to a board like www.caraudioforum.com and "ban" is a common word, like "lunch". There are guys over there with thousands of posts, they just get bored and start thrashing other people to get banned. They say "I wonder if Lee will finally ban me now." Then they get a new login and start over again. So not only are more people banned but the tone of the board is much ruder.

Sometimes the mods have been a bit harsh in the past, but I think they're doing a good job nowadays.
