VIRTUAL REUNION OF PREORDER 2003 OWNERS
#161
I'm not a pre-order, I got my Z in July 2003. But still, it seems like sooo long ago now.
The Z has 28,000 miles and I'm planning on keeping it to give to my grandson (he's currently 8)

Well, it's been another 2 years since anyone posted in this thread and as the Curator of the Preorder 350Z Owner's museum, I felt it necessary to bump this sucker back up from the dead to see if there are any more of the Original Preorder guys lurking in the background.
This thread will be sort of like how all the WWI vets would gather every year, their numbers dwindling as the years passed. Eventually only one guy would remain and he'd open the last bottle of champagne and toast all of his fallen comrades. Who will that guy be?
To qualify, you first have to be a preorder owner. Someone who ordered their 350Z back in the winter of 2002 before the car even existed. Finally, you have to still own that original car now, more than 9 years later.
So chime in all who qualify! We want to hear from any surviving members.

I'm not a preorder either, took almost a year to talk my wife into it, lol. June 2003, 114k+ on the clock, true daily driver with Blizzaks in the winter.

I'm right there with ya bro. Amazing what a set of Blizzaks can do to our cars in snow and ice. Its a totally different car!

Yep, it is actually a hoot to drive in the snow and they work so much better in the cold even without any snow. Just put mine on last week - figures, it is 60 degrees today, lol.

Hi Dr. Bonz & other old friends!
I'm checking in and happy to report that I still have my Z! Pre-ordered in January 2002, took delivery in Sept 2002. Currently about 42,000 miles. These days I alternate between driving my 350Z and a 2011 Nissan Leaf during the week. I hope everyone is doing well!
Kind regards,
Ethan

Jeff (Scaf), glad to see you are still around man. Are you still in Cali? What are you driving these days since you got rid of the Z?
Rahtok, another familiar old name here. Didn't you develope some sort of bracket for the Valentine One radar detector that fit over the rear view?
Ethan. We took delivery right around the same time and have similar miles on our cars. Good to see you check in.
Kaminari and PerfZ, also two old names I recall.
As far as where I've been, it's mainly over at the frenzy site. I only check over here periodically.

I am not the original owner, however I am the second and got the car with 9K. I did not know it was until I signed the paperwork and glimpsed at the VIN number.
I have some information about the first ten cars in general, such as color, but I haven't met any other of the owners.

Were there any Brickyards in 1-10?
#174
As far as I know, no, there were no brickyards in the first ten. There is room for some correction of that (see below).
There is a claim that the first 20 cars were kept "corporate" (ie. dealer owned). I'm not sure that is true, however the first ten do have an interesting history.
VIN 001 - Silverstone Track, 100 miles, not driven. Dealer private owned, possibly re-auctioned recently in Scottsdale, AZ. (Charity auction car)
VIN 002 - Never driven, never auctioned (mystery car).
VIN 003 - Redline (non-Track)
VIN 004 - Unknown color, Licensed, but not currently driven.
VIN 006 - Superblack, Actively driven.
VIN 007 - Superblack Track, Actively driven. Sold in Washington in 2009 at 12K miles.
VIN 008 - Superblack Track. Sold in Montana 2010 for $17,900 at 10K miles.
VIN 009 - Actively Driven.
VIN 010 - Silver Touring, Actively driven.

how old is this thread? I forgot I posted in it in 2008?!?
My preorder blue was 080, but I rejected that one due to the bad paint quality and ended up even happier with a Brickyard Red. I'm at 77K miles, and I'm still happy as a clam driving the Z. My Z has been in Boston, Rochester, Austin and now Seattle.

Im not sure what you guys are looking at in vins.
I bought my 03 touring from an older gentleman that preordered the z. Theres a tag with 4 maybe 5 digits on the keychain. its a small little piece with numbers etched into it.
How do I tell what number my z is?
Thanks in advance!

VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is stamped above the bar code on the white vinyl sticker seen on the aft door jamb if you open the drivers side door. It begins with "JN1......". The VINs are issued in production assembly sequence, and is the last five digits of your number, such as mine which is JN1AZ34D03T100159, or VIN #159 for short.
