We all have our opinion on what a real sports car really is. To me, it's being a 2-seater, having a manual transmission, being RWD, having the tendency to oversteer rather than understeer, and having a decent horsepower to weight ratio. A real sports car in my book is a no-compromise machine who's ultimate purpose is to beat every car in its class at the local track. With that said, the Z car (I mean all of them, from the S30 to the Z34) fall short. I still love them, but pure sports cars they're not.

IMO,Z is more a GT the car is too heavy for a pure sports car.
The S2K is more of a sports car, light weight, no GPS, leather, just the basics.

OP, No offense dude.. This is one of the worst threads ever conceived.

Sports car debates are stupid.. It's like music and genre.

If you let someone tell you your of African when your Japanese, your stupid. Don't be so gullible.

I personally don't believe that true sports cars are top-downs.. For multiple reasons.

The whole topless thing comes from tradition...think of caterhams and lotus 7...

now a days we call them track cars...but they are the pure sports cars

add a little civility you get modern sports cars(focused on purity of driving)

add a bit more fluff and u get the GT...regardless of how many seats

big engine...2 seats...high speed stability....is the classic definition of a GT(think SL-SLR/ferrari 599/etc)

thats why people track their Z's more than they do other motorsports(autoX/ghymkana/hill climbs) becuase long sweepers and some esses are what GT's are good at, and they can use their big engines....

Does it really matter....no
but it still is a decent topic

LOL, well to contribute then, it's a pretty useless arguement bc everyone has different opinions to what a sport or GT car is. To me the Z is a sports car, why? It's small, fast (for the price), and it's not all that practical to have, it's a car that takes you to point A and point B only, but makes it more fun doing so.

I dont know about any of you but my Z was specially made by NASA not Nissan to go to the moon, so i consider my Z a spaceship.
