welcome. i was in your position not to long ago, but some searching around the forum helped answer all of my questions. DOnt touch the taillights, altezza style lights on a Z suck,if your going to do something to them i would say dont take it farther then smoking them imo. As far as intakes go...none seem worth it other then the Injen CAI, simply because these actually give you gains as opposed to the other intakes on the market that can actually cause you to lose power.

I doubt the turbonator does much. I believe it is a gimic and whoever fell for it is making the designer a rich rich man.

dude!!! I swear by the Turbonator!! I actually am using 2 right now - one in the intake and one in the exhaust as someone above mentioned, and I dynoed and got 43.6 more hp, 58.2 more torque (at the wheels!!), AND my gas mileage is around 34 mpg! This thing is AWESOME!!!! Definitely your best "first mod" to do to your brand new Z!

Oh and another good tip for you, if you lift off the cover where your battery is, disconnect the positive and negative terminals, and then rub some vasoline jelly (or any other petroleum jelly will do fine too), and then reconnect the terminals, it causes a better electrical connection and therefore you will get better acceleration and a smoother idle. Just a little helpful tip for you. And no, it will not void your warranty.

Have fun!

gotchya. alot of sarcastic people in these forums. this is my first car and first time ever in a forum. i want to treat this thing like my baby because i is literaly the only nice thing i have ever had. sure its not a ferrari, but i love it and has been the most exciting thing i have ever owned. to be honest i dont know alot about mods or what mods do what. i have spent every second not working trying to learn without my girl wanting to shoot me. it seems as if the intake debate is ongoing. a simple answer on what intake is the best as far as performance/sound/price (priority in that order).
is either a popcharger or the injen CAI the best of each category? i am just scared from horry stories about heat soak with the first and hydrolock with the second. i live in san diego, so dunno if that changes what i shoudl go for or be worried about. hm

my suggestions to you (in all seriousness):

Leave the intake alone (leave it stock) (some intakes are ok, like injen, but do your research first!)
Leave the taillights alone
Leave the dash cluster alone
Leave the dash lid (cubby) alone
Basically don't screw with a good thing. The Z is a great car from the factory, and we understand that you want to "bling out" your Z or whatever, but that is generally frowned upon by this entire community (and by pretty much everyone in the outside world too) because so many people don't have a clue and do it very badly (and untastefully). There are things you can do that will help the appearance of your Z and also enhance the performance of it as well. Get the windows tinted (but not limo tint, just do whatever is darkest legal in Cali). If you have some money to throw down, you can do some suspension work and lower the car, or maybe you can get some new wheels and tires (but again, this can EASILY be done untastefully). READ the forums and get ideas and look at pictures. Hopefully you have good taste and will pick something like Volks or something, which are very good. If what you are interested in is impressing the girls (which, by the sound of it, you're about 18, so that's about right), then maybe you can invest in a good sound system and upgrade the stock radio in your car. However, don't go crazy with the speakers and subs and stuff like that, because your car will just get broken into and your hearing will be gone. And no girl is attracted to a guy who always says "huh? what did you say?". Basically just read these forums and see what the general opinions are on different mods and what is good and bad. I will tell you that the stock intakes that come with your new car are VERY good and they are MADE for your engine, so you most likely will just hurt your performance instead of help it, and also probably void your warranty along the way. Not smart. And for God's sake, don't even think about putting those piece of **** Altezza taillights on your car! That's the one quickest way you can ruin a good thing. As far as the carbon fiber little Z inserts, those are ok, but remember to do everything in moderation. Ok that's all I can remember from your original post right now.

And yes, this is just my 2 cents, so you can take it or leave it, but I'm pretty sure that most people on here will agree with me for the most part.

ps. The turbonator thing was a joke, don't you dare buy into crap like that and do NOT put anything like that on or near your car. You will be laughed at. And not in a good way.

pss. Yes there are lots of sarcastic people on here, so you need to learn to get a tough skin

nice. so u mean they may be as good as theTUBONATORRR. what yr is your z? what do you like or dislike about your injen intake? im asuming the sound is nice... do ou hear the nice sound all throught the range or only in high rpm's? and do you feel you actualy have gained hp? or just a couple at 6000rpm? if it sounds nice the whole way through (not just when stomping on the gas or at real high rpm) and you actual have some kind of performance gain i will probably buy one right now. if not i may just get a popcharger. did you buy the water valve thing?

OP,

The only intakes out for the 07+ 350z's that actually make some power up top are the Injen intakes. If you cannot live without clear taillights, then go with authentic JDM taillights. DO NOT BUY TAIL LIGHTS OFF EBAY. If you really want to spend money on your new 350z, consider the following mods:

1. Injen Intakes
2. Exhaust
3. Wheels
4. Stereo Upgrade
5. Tint
6. Suspension

And stop worrying about hydro lock. If your stupid enough to drive your car into 3 feet of water, then you deserve it. The injen intakes route the filter into the front bumper, no water is going to hit there unless you hit a big puddle fast. Even then, hydro lock takes some work to happen. You have to literally suck water into the motor.

OP: Everyone is always hesitant about the powers of the Turbonator at first... I wasn't convinced until I heard the whistles go "woo whoooooooo" when I chirped 5th to 6th. After that, I knew I had something special in my 350Z.
