I have yet to see a body shop get the paint as good as you can get from the factory. The blend is never quite right, or they leave little air bubbles, dust, etc. Even with a good paint job, a pro would be able to tell easily that it's been repainted, and it will affect your resale value.
I'd much rather have a replaceable part taken off the car than being keyed.
oh and for the record, HELL yea id rather have a replaceable part taken off, my car was keyed last month and the cheapest quote i got to fix it (btw it was just my passenger fender that was keyed) was $500 bucks! what replaceable part on the car could possibly be ripped off and cost more then 500 bucks?!?! like nothing!!!! imagine if the whole car was keyed i wouldve been screwed
