Default Got rear ended. What are my options?

So I got my Z rear ended a few weeks back. You can see the pictures below.

I went to the nearby body shop (Fix Auto) and they gave me an estimate of $1000 to replace the entire rear bumper, the two mounting brackets on the side, and the foam stuff behind the bumper, all painted and installed. The guys who rear ended me gave me cash so now I am at a point where i can decide what to do with the car.

I feel that the stock Z bumpers look unfinished and I want to do something more to it. What do you guys think I can do? Also from what I know, most of the rear bumper modifications are attachments to the original factory bumper, correct? Are there any other bumpers that I can use to completely replace the rear bumper?

Thanks!

Get another estimate. Looks like a cover and paint. The attachment brackets are bent or broken? Foam backing needs to be replaced? I think this is a little excessive.

You can go with a OEM knockoff bumper, but some shops will not touch them. Fitting is less than perfect, and they need additional man-hours to tweak.

Depends on how low the damage to your OE bumper is, it might be low enough that you can cover the damage with a Seibon TT or AS style read lip spoiler...

That being said, if the damage is higher, then you will have to get it fixed. Is all up to you; you can probably buy a used rear bumper cover and the foam insides for less from the Classifieds here or on eBay (Ugh!), then just have him to the paint work.

Just my .02 on it, hope you get it fixed soon.

Many moons ago I accidentally backed into a ultra low trailer hitch parking at work (yes brilliant I know). Damage wasnt quite as bad as yours but my body shop fixed her up good as new for 4 bills i think.

Its standard for a body shop to give you an estimate with all the extras parts included but surely you can judge for yourself wether you actually need the foam and brackets. just look for a shop that can repair it . it does'nt look bad

oh veilside has a full rear bumper (veilside V2) but youll need more money

If you got rear ended someone else is paying for it right? Get the most expensive quote where they replace the most parts. Fight for that amt from their insurance, then go where you want and pocket the rest, or go aftermarket and spend a little more. Easy... Got me a bodykit for my old car that way. However, some dumb blonde (my x-wife) backed into me in a driveway. (It was snowy, but I had just told her, make sure I am clear before you back up.... I remember getting in the car, and seeing the reverse lights pop on about 10 seconds after I got in the car and... BAM)

Chances are if you paint just the back bumper paint won't match up exactly anyways.

So surf through the market place on here. There are alot of good deals on replica body kits for under $1000.

when i got rear ended too,it didnt look that bad but when my body shop took off the rear bumper, there was a small body frame damage inside.i was going to do the same if the damage was just the rear bumper.i was just going to get a oem rear bumper and add ons and pay my shop for the labor and paint.

still waiting for my estimate this week.

Take bumper off.
Take to body shop, get it repaired.
Install it.

Should cost well less than 1k this way.
