If the key fob can be config then that would be great, but I am looking for any ideas to roll-up the windows remotely. Got caught in the rain with windows down and defenitely don't want that to happen again.
aftermarket alarm maybe.
but the Z doesnt have pressure sensors to tell it if theres something caught, so remote up windows would be a hazard Id imagine(well a hazard for stupid people anyway)
no configuration on the stock to have it do it.
can put the key in and turn it for a few seconds, theyll go up, but thats not very remote...

Ok, you press the lock button. The central alarm sends electrical pulses to the relays for locking to doors. Now, find out where the pulse goes for a normal window roll-up switch command using a volt meter. Then, tap the "lock" leads and patch those into the relay for auto roll-up for when you are in the car. If the windows are up when you hit lock, they will stay. If the windows are down, the pulse will trip the auto roll-up relay and they will go up. I think that this would work at least. Depending on the relay, if the windows are up, they might roll down, but I highly doubt it. My terminology might not be spot on, but I really think this would work. At any rate, you would essentially tap the "lock" command and send it to a second place. Viola, every time you lock, the windows will go up if they are down.
Remember, the key fob and central alarm are really pretty dumb. It is just a way of mapping key presses remotely to wire leads. Once you find out which wire lead is tripped for which button, you can connect those leads to anything you want, even multiple things. At least this is the way it works for aftermarket alarms. The Z might be different, but probably not by much.

well i've thought of reversing the connection. so instead of the window going down when you press/hold the unlock button it would go up. Just have to find the relay that connects to the window open and connect it to the window close.
I just got an aftermarket alarm, Clifford Matrix RS 3 (the latest Clifford). I have features like windows roll up/down, trunk pop, autostart w/ manual tranny, and a paging system. I got a really good deal for it. Anyone who lives in So. Cali that might be interested just let me know and I could get anyone a good deal especially if it's a group buy (unit and/or labor).
Are you sure you want auto start with manual? I would be afraid the car may come out of gear because with auto start the car would have to be in neutral when started.... as far as I Know. Let me know if you got any new ideas I am not aware of on the subject . Thanks. MW

It took about 6-8hrs to do all the features including auto start with my 6spd. There really isn't any alarm with auto start for manual trannys so this alarm doesn't come with that kind of security, although, you can't start the car unless the handbrake is all the way up. It's somewhat of a security (it's not gonna stop it from jumping if it's in gear though). If anybody is interested in purchasing and installing the alarm or any alarm/stereo/video in So. Cali, let me know and i'll hook you guys up with my guy. thanx.
ckny is right, it does come with auto shut off also.
