my z is my dd and my only car. i love it. i've always contemplated getting a beater to drive around on bad weather days and such, but i know that i really couldn't do it. i love the feeling i get driving my z, and i don't mind driving it when i know it's getting filthy, cause i'd take that over not driving it at all.

Wife has a P'finder, so, if I need more room, she gets the Z, & I take her SUV. OTHERWISE, my Zed's a DD, no doubt! I'M LOVIN' IT!

I do understand your post, and I do agree it's a good topic because it's different than the typical stuff here. Sometimes my writing looks "wound up" here because I don't use a lot of these guys:

I just wanted to clarify, my post was meant to be friendly and I actually do see your point, it's a valid argument...

i thought the Z was marketed (and priced) as the "affordable sports car"?

Sounds to me like you are just tooting your own horn for some reason. Are you trying to proove that you bought it new and only drive it as a second car because you are so cool and so rich? Or are you saying the rest of us who bought used are less important? Or maybe that since the cars are old now and CHEAP (compared to what you paid) just any old loser is coming along now and you need to buy a newer more expensive car to be around other like minded people?

I just can't put my finger on it, but somewhere there is a little man holding his ***** stretching it out there for the world to see. Good job.

I certaintly did not, and enjoy it all the more because.
I bought it NEW as my DD. And I get to enjoy it every day. Go me!

I'm sorry I don't use mine like you use yours.

I live in MN. Winter sucks. Having a 350Z as a DD would be difficult. Even with snow tires. Besides, I have a 7 yr old and need a back seat. My DD is a VW GTi. It's seeing it's first winter being outside and I swear it's aged as much in the last year as it did the first 3 yrs I owned it and garaged it. I'm glad my Z will never see a MN winter.

My daily driver. No complaints here except the fact that it makes you uber paranoid of door dings.

Wow, that's an awful lot of assumptions. First point = No (don't need to toot my horn over the internet to people who don't know me). Second point = No (can't drive it year-round here without ruining it). Third point = No (but sounds like you might have an inferiority complex). Fourth point = Yes (more losers are getting their hands on used Z's), and No (I like what I have just fine). Last point = just plain stupid.

Manual Z in LA traffic is more practical than what I see everyday on the road.

24-26 mpg compare to the 12-18mpg i see everyday is pretty good to me.

But I do agree "It's a toy"

During the spring, summer, and early fall... the Z is the DD.

During the winter, and on rainy/bad days... the Grand Am gets put to work.

Only drive it on weekends? That's too much still.

I only drive mine every 1st of the month, between 1:00 pm and 1:05 pm. And only if it's 82 degrees exactly with no clouds. It makes it really special.

The rest of the time I walk.

West Texas the land of no precipitation - Z gets daily driven. I daily drove miata's before this...not sure if that's "practical"? Right now I'm trying to buy an Elise to use as my DD, does this make me silly or what? I believe in the "Its a car, DRIVE IT" theory.
