Makes me glad I am not young, and I do not live in Cali. I pay less than $2000 a year for full coverage on 4 vehicles. But, go with full coverage, youngsterz and Z's are a bad combo.
And OP - you won't score too many points around here by ripping on someone with 27,000+ posts. Pretty sure his answer was tongue in cheek - relax a bit and go with the flow.

I'm glad we are still young with 350z and live in Cali best combo and yes youngster with 350z is a good combo, oldster + 350z (NO,NO not a good combo!!!) I'm guessing you are not young, that would make you old... what car did you have when you were 23?? exactly......anyways he got the insurance today with Geico full coverage for $640 6 mos.

Points?? laughing.... apparently someone that has that much posts should be mature enough on forums and answer such question in a friendly manner. right? if you think of it, 27,000+ posts with almost five years as a member pretty much says he has no life. So I don't go with the flow if the flow is not right.

one last thing, how would you react if you post a thread and someone replies similar disrespectful way like he did? ______exactly.....so look on both side of the fences before you choose sides...

here why don't I tell you.....

I think I have the worst insurance on this site. With 2 tickets over 3 years and no accidents.

How about taking a real high deductable; say $5000? See what cost is.

Running with no collison is big risk.

On another point, stop the flaming on both sides. Next flame closes the thread.

i would atleast get liability w/ comp if he cannot afford collision. comp will cover anything other than coll ie theft, vandalism, fire, hail, he hits an animal. IMO with a 15,000 car i like having the piece of mind of full coverage but if he cant then atleast get comp.

Even tho he has no payments he still has an asset.. I would put on full coverage until it is not reasonable to do so anymore and the loss would be acceptable. I am glad to see some of the CAL rates. Thought NJ was bad.. I have 5 cars and the Nismo runs me $1350. Not a primary car but full coverage and low deduct. I am 47yrs old.

helpful positive comments please.... ( I'm also trying to help him )
tell "your friend" that he needs to figure out for himself what he needs insurance wise. then shop around various insurance companies, get quotes, and decide for himself what insurance he wants to buy. tell that to "your friend"

also, "your friend" must have missed this post in the top 100 question sticky at the top:

Q: How much will my insurance cost? How much are you paying for insurance, I want to compare to see if I'm paying a fair price?

Please don't ask that question. Ever. It is the most useless question that can be asked on this or any other automotive forum. Why? What you, I and anybody else pays is dependent on several factors: who your insurer is, where you live, how old you are, how many accidents/tickets you've had, what kind of discounts you get from your ins. company, how many cars and drivers in your family, etc.

As you can see, unless somebody is in exactly the same socio-economic situation as you are, they won't be paying the same for insurance. The only way to get a decent idea of what you'll pay is to call your current insurance agent or visit their website.
even if it is "for your friend"

If the car is worth more than 4 - 5000$, I would take the full coverage.

I'm 37 and accident-free, so after multi-car discount and annual low mileage discount, full coverage (w/ $250 comp. and $500 collision deductibles) on my '07 350Z w/ State Farm is $51 per month.

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.....
Let's see, when I was 23 I was a Navy vet in college, been living on my own since I joined at 17 and 10 months. While in the Navy had a Yamaha 360 Enduro bike - street legal for transportation and fun in the dirt in Florida. Then bought an Austin Healy Sprite for next to nothing and drove the wheels off it around New England. Went to Diego Garcia for a year and drove a short bus back and forth to the Comm Station - no personal vehicles allowed on the 6 square mile island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. In Scotland started with a Fiat with a 850 cc rear engine motor - petrol was about $1.25 per litre off base. Upgraded to a BMW 2000 sedan, thought I was quite the man, lol, gas killed me. Came home, bought a beater. Went to OSU, and bought a 240 with rusted floorboards and fenders, patched it with Bondo and sheet metal. Got out of college and bought a '69 'Cuda (might be off on the year) with a 340 that would pin your ears back. A few vehicles later got an '88 300ZX NA, drove it to 160,000 miles and then got the present '03 350Z.
2 speeding tickets in my entire life, zero at fault accidents, and my top speed in the 350 is right around 145 (I was watching the road, not the speedometer), been to more than a couple track days and ZDayZ since 2005.
Oh yeah, I AM old and I'll leave your a$$ (oops, I meant "your friends" a$$) in the dust on any track of your choosing - MidOhio is just up the road from me if you would care to come out.
If you want people to mind their own business, get the **** off the forum
and stop asking stupid ****ing questions. And I am glad he got insurance at a good price - you should not have to pay for stupidity until you have earned it.
All other posters, sorry for the hijack - blaming it on the Crown
