Default Scraped the Bottom of the Z!!!

Welp, I was out looking at homes and this one house had a driveway the goes kinda like this:

--^-____ (not exact but kinda the idea)

I was going up and sensed something was amiss but then next I hear is scrAAAAAPe! I rubbed part of the underbody going forward and of course when I backed up. I was going slow but when I was backing up, I thought I was gonna get stuck and teeter-totter.

I kept checking whenever I stopped at other homes to see if it was leaking oil (noob here; thinking bout the sump) but no oil stains, unless it's sloooow.

I kept freaking out about the OIL gauge. Not sure what it's supposed to read but at idle it was near 0 PSI, perhaps 10 PSI? When driving it was about 60 PSI.

Any help would be appreciated!

Not sure what to tell you. But I know my house choice was limited by the Z's ground clearance because some of the driveways around here are tarded. Mine included...this is what I ended up with and it is marginal at best. I would say get used to it LOL

It was probably just the exhaust or that weird undercarriage brace or whatever it is. I beat the crap out of my Z and the places I go sort of forces me to drive over ridiculous bumps and crap, especially down city streets like Baltimore, but my car is fine. Lift it up or look for some pics of the underside and you will see what I mean.

You should be ok. There are a bunch of shield under the car, that might have scraped.

Thanks for the quick responses guys! What's the usual OIL PSI when crusing at 75mph and then at idle?

I was freaking out that I'd have a salvage title when I go to sell or something! haha. For reals though.

sell it. 1 scrape will de-value the car so much.. you have to sell it.. or ofcourse report it to insurance.. have them total it.. and get a 370 maybe?

You scratched the undercarriage.

The car is done for.

Sell it or trade it in while the car still has some value left!

Don't look at an oil gauage to see if you're leaking oil. The oil gauge measures pressure per square inch, not quarters-of-oil-still-in-engine. There's this little thing called a dip stick coming out of the engine.

You're probably fine though, don't trip.

This fluctuates with temperature... what gear you're in (RPM)... exactly how much oil was used...

there is no exact number it should be at.

In general at idle (~500RPM) when warmed up my oil gauage reads about 15 PSI. If I am running my car hard, at WOT for a while, then the PSI will be slightly lower at idle. This is because the oil is hotter.

correct me if i am wrong, i believe it's suppose to be at 30psi during idle without load (a/c).

You haven't really driven the Z until you scrape it. Don't worry, it should be fine, as long as you didn't come onto the surface really hard.

You probably scraped the carbon fiber drive shaft, but since it is made of carbon fiber it withstood the impact and snapped back into place. Carbon fiber can take a shotgun blast from God himself.

+1 on that also. I've scraped mine too. The parts I usually end up scraping 99% of the time though are that center "breast plate" looking metal piece, in the center of the car, just behind the engine. It's where the back 2 bolts of the plastic air deflector plate attach. That, and the those 2 plastic covers just behind each front wheel. They are the plastics pieces that cover a metal plate, where some of the font suspension parts all meet and hindge. I have no idea what either part is called...

As mentioned above, oil pressure has nothing to do with how much oil is in the crankcase. As long as the pump inlet is submerged, oil level has no effect on oil pressure.
