Last week I gave my dealer a refundable deposit on a new 04. He said the order would go in the first week of September. How will I know that they put the order in? How will I know when it is scheduled to be built? Is there anyway of tracking the process?

 

I've read all sorts of tales-of-whoa on Zzz sites about people ordering & the car not showing up for months. One problem has been the dealer is limited on how many cars he can order per month and delays the order to subsequent months.

Try talking to the sales manager & getting confirmation the order was actually placed.

I placed an order but continued to look through the Nissan web site for the car I wanted. When I found it, I called my broker. She called the dealer & asked him to see if a trade with the other dealer (which had my car) could be arranged.. No go. So I just had my broker call & make the deal with the other dealer. paid MSRP plus $250 to have it driven to my door.

 

You can ask the dealer to give you a copy of the order form. From the order form, you can find what which color, options are being ordered.

 

i am going through the order process right now. i filled out the order form at the end of june and was told the order will go in the 1st week of july. the dealer called on jul 8th to tell me that he placed the order that day. he told me it would take around 90 days. he said he should have a VIN# 3 weeks before it arrives...so i called last week and sure enough, he had the VIN#. the car will be here on oct. 17th give or take 3 days he said. so far he's been right w/everything he said...so we'll see on oct. 17th...
