Angry bike = gone, but Z/rims still here

Got back from a business trip last week in San Antonio and when I got back to my apartment complex, my bike (in the avatar) was gone gone gone. so first i did was check to see if my Volks were still there on my car...whew--still there. I put a cover on my car every night--glad i did.

all of you with garages are lucky. $710/month rent and no security or garages... moving soon though. =)

2nd bike stolen in the past year. i have the greatest luck

$710 a month!!!! Is your rent less then your car payment? That's crazy cheap!

Sorry to hear about your bike. I would try to move a quick as possible. I'm guessing it was somone that lives in your complex. I would hate to read a post about your missing Volks

Sorry to hear that - that sucks. I know it's a moot point, but did you have any security devices on the bike? I've heard that they don't really help, which is why I've never used them.

Yeah, luckily i had insurance.

I did not have a security device. don't think it woulda helped. All they do is come by with a truck and two people can pick it up and put it on the bed then take off. it would take 1 minute to do.

No apartments out here have garages. shoulda got a house. oh well, when I move back to cali, my car and new bike will be in a garage for sure!

OC-350Z--$710 isn't realy cheap for this part of florida. my car payment is actually a lot less than that because i traded in a mint prelude for the Z. =)

Hey J, sorry to hear about that. That's really not a bad area of town either. But from what i've heard, bike theft is up in the area.

Wow ... sorry for your loss ... after two bikes, I'd start to think it was someone that knows you (or knows of you). Probably the same people that stole the first one. Friend of mine had his bike stolen a year and a half ago ... right out of his garage. They cut a whole through the garage with a saw-saw just big enough for someone to crawl through. Climbed in, opened the door from the inside, 'gone in 60 seconds'.

Every bit of security 'helps' as a deterrent ... unfortunately, if they want it, they're going to get it.

Sorry again, good luck!

Joe

Why would his car payment be over $710? I have a track model with every option except nav and it is less than $600 a month for 60 months.

It was a kind of a joke. I have a Touring with every option including Nav and extended warranty. 0 down, my payment is over $710

Damn, your rent is cheap. I pay $1000 per month in charges on an apartment that I *OWN* and that does not include an additional $450 a month in parking charges for my 350Z. With the differential in our costs of living, you are better off where you are even if you get a bike stolen every year...
