Is it worth it to mod a 5spd AT performance wise?
I have test driven both the 6spd and the 5spd AT and Im just wondering if it would be a waste if I tried to mod the auto? I like the 6spd but I guess I get so damn lazy. Im sure theres a few auto's in here.

Don't have to be "brutal"! Yes! Started with Borla SS True Dual Exhaust, followed by "Z-Extreme" Grounding Kit and finally Injen CAI. While, other than sound, didn't notice much with Borla exhaust, however I'm sure it was there. Noticed a BIG change with Grounding Kit. Finally, I feel an even BIGGER change with CAI. The "Master Tech." my Nissan dealer was very much surprised at difference with Grounding Kit and he road races a Nissan.
If had to do over, would have gone 1st with grounding kit, followed by exhaust and finally CAI. What next? Waiting see what happens with a couple of ECU's being tested.

Z-Xtreme.com is one of our sponsors. They state "increases in hp and torque". They, Z-Xtreme, have received a lot of positive feedback on their "Grounding Kit". I am sure others are equally as good! I might suggest you look at their site and email them with your questions.

i think its worth it cause a stock 5at and 6mt are actually really close performace wise. there are alot of people on here with 5at that have modded their car. the most interesting one ive seen is a former member who ran a 13.1 with either a 75 or 100 shot of nitrous. several people have gotten the ati supercharger (i forget who but someone dyno'd 368 rwhp). no tt 5ats (or 6mts really). mostly just exhaust, cai, and grounding kits mods so far.
yes, also for drag racing the auto's are much better. I went from a six speed to an auto, and I cant believe this auto tranny that Nissan put out.
About the grounding kit adding hp or making it faster, thats some bs. LMAO!!! Thats rice burner mentality. Thats like saying stickers make hp.

dude 1-2rwhp is the correction factor on a dyno. I have seen up to 7 rwhp +/-. Have you ever dynoed a car? You will rarely ever get the same dyno number to the wheels twice.
A normal dyno session is three pulls, the second is usually the higher of the the pulls.

Don't argue with me! Argue with the grounding kit makers! They have tested it in more to one car and after dyno'ing numerous times stock they did them with the grounding kits and that margin of hp it varried in still had a top number, but the top hp number got bigger. It isn't something that is going to determain a race between 2 z owners, no doubt. But the smoothness of the idle and the feel of the car just driving around makes a big difference.
How strong do you guys think the auto tranny is? I really wish someone would come out with some type of shift kit or high-stall torque converter for the Z. Anyone think the AT can withstand the hp numbers generated by a TT kit?
