Default 2004 seatbelt guide/extenders

When I picked up my 04 coupe, my dealer noticed a change in the seatbelt mechanism/guide. I compared it to my coworker's 03 and sure enough it was different. Here are some pics.

Yea, I remember several people complaining about their seatbelt rattleing against the side of the interior when not buckled. I guess this is Nissans solution.

That is EXACTLY what ALL these cars need damnit!

I'm 6 ft. tall so I don't have the problem with the belt cutting into my throat.......BUT.......I do feel like I'm being suffocated in the chest because the lack of an extender/adjuster makes the belt keep "tightening" down as you drive!

Will that thing keep the belt from chafing on the neck? If so, can it be installed on the 03

It is the metal clip that rattles against the side if the clip is not secured. I don't see that this device would stop that from happening.

probably because the belt is held away from the side of the car.. and under some tension.. I would imagine side to side movement might rattle some still.. but one would assume if they made a change to SPECIFICALLY address the rattle.. it should actually work

I'm not positive that this change is to specifically address the rattle. I would think it's probably b/c the belt doesn't fit well on the shoulder/neck. Or, hopefully the change is for both reasons. Only time will tell if it is a good solution......

Hi Wayne,

Having tested this new seatbelt configuration in the showroom, it does both. The buckle when not in use, rests against the new bracket and thus does not rest lower down and rattle against the plastic side liner. The new position of the belt means that there is less pressure against the neck and chest, because the belt is angling in from the car further forward on the '04 compared to the '03.

It looks like that setup might get in the way a bit during entry/egress...

hm. FYI, the passenger's side seatbelt, when not in use, clips to the wall. one of the first things my sales guy showed me. it works for me, no rattle.

I don't know about you, BUT...............

That is a HUGE pain in my **** to reach over behind the passenger seat to finagle the belt in that tiny-**** clip!

I have a 04 Performance model. The seatbelt extender is definitely a plus...i've compared this with my coworker's 03 touring. It keeps out rattling, easier to reach and less rubbing.

I'm not a tall guy so those knee pads don't do any good for me.

This car is pretty quiet considering it's a hardcore sports car. Great buy guys.
