Default Another example of Dealership Overpricing!

You would think with prices like this they go are part of the companies the Navy get's it's supplies from.

So I called because I have the lovely "axle clicking" coming from the driver side, though I don't know if it is coming from the passenger side.

So the quote I got was the following.

$367.27 for one side!
$533.43 for both sides!

On top of that she said they had to special order this grease which was like $100 because they were out of stock. I have a feeling the amount ordered will be a lot more than the amount used. This way they have it in stock and didn't have to pay for it. WTF man! I hate the clicking but I hate the price more. I never knew loose bolts and greasing was such a heavy job.

Talk about a hose job man!

If you can get a hold of the grease than you should go to a local shop or do it yourself. You can grease the shafts without taking the shafts out and without replacing all the nuts, bolts, and washers. I did it myself on a lift, with a friend spinning the drive shaft. The half shafts can be pushed in a couple inches to get your finger in there to grease it. You'll probably need a pneumatic vibrating chizzle (or whatver they are called), to push the shafts in. As for the grease, I got it from the Nissan dealership. They put some in a small container for me. Expensive stuff though.

I had mine done under warranty and they still put the "warranty price" on the invoice and it was $125. The prices that they quoted you are absolutey ridiculous. There may be $20 worth of parts and the rest labor. My dealership didn't take very long to do mine either.

A Nissan dealership in my area billed me 120 to the labor to fix my clicking since my Z was out of warranty but they "in good faith" waived the cost of parts (grease?) Well it's behind me now and I am now short 120 but its worth it.

There are no potential problems for this axle clicking.. correct?
I have this problem as well and I remember someone saying, it is just annoying, but does no harm to your car.

can someone verify that? thanks

I had the same issue fixed on my '04 under warranty, even though the car no longer had a warranty

Amazing isn't it? You can tell the dealers are not selling a lot of cars these days with prices like that!

Not to derail the thread but I was told by a dealer that an additional key and remote would be about $325.00 programmed. So I bought them on ebay and saved myself $220.00 including the dealer $66.00 programming and key-cutting charge!

I bought a keyfob on ebay for $20 brand new and programmed it myself. Very easy to do. Sure there is a write up on here somewhere. The key is a different matter though.
