Default Changed the Air Filter

I have about 10,900miles on my Z. The stock filter was really filthy so soon?(sand, gravel, color was black). I also noticed it was oily. I just put another Nissan filter. I think Ive gained a couple of more HP

think it should be oily, helps catch crap better. Plus I highly doubt you gain any HP, could've just regain 1 or 2 hp from the dirty filter.

I check my air filter every 2000 miles because of all the junk that get sucked into the air box. Last fall, it was almost totally blocked by leaves!! I suggest you do the same.. I still have my original filter at just shy of 13,000 miles. I did pick up a spare factory filet as there only $6.. Car is running super.. In fact, I'm getting much better gas mileage since I hit 10,000 miles.. Guess I can now consider the car "Broken In"

Steve (k2we) Dobbs Ferry, NY 12,862 miles since Sept 17th...

I went to my dealer and bought it there.. I believe it was $7.06 with tax.. That's all they cost..

Get the K&N I hear its worth every penny. I put it in my 2000 maxima and it increased my gas mileage by 20 miles per tank. I only have 3000 miles on my Z but after 3000 more I think Ill upgrade.
