window not always sealing/going up automatically?
On the Z, if the window is raised all the way up via the interior switches, it is always supposed to lower when you open the door and always go up higher when you close it, correct?
Are there any conditions (when the window is all the way up) when it's not supposed to? I've only had the car a week, and after I had an aftermarket alarm installed, I noticed that it's not always raising it when I close the door. There's no problem w/it lowering itself and never have I had it in the all the way up (glass possibly hitting frame) position before closing the door.
Do you think it's a coincidence that this started happening or that my alarm installer could've done something to cause this prob? It's intermittent, sometimes it works right and other times it doesn't. It happens sometimes to just 1 window and sometimes to both.
No, I don't have the prob of it raising, then lowering (like it thinking there's an obstruction).

Ive read on other posts where the window fails to go down as much as it used to when opening the door, but never heard of it failing to go back up.
I myself have the problem where the drivers side window does not fall more than 1/8th an inch when I open the door, but it always goes back up.
Check with your dealer cause it is a known problem of having a defective window motor, but it could be the alarm install if they ripped open your door panels to get to the door locks and they tampered with something.

Yeah, I might have to check w/the dealer.
The installer did have to run wires in the door panels. I mentioned the prob to him today, he took a look and said he disconnected the wires he attached and was able reproduce the problem w/them not hooked up. It did it intermittently for him just as it does for me.

I have the window lowering problem and my car is less than 2 months old. Took it in to the dealer last week and they "adjusted" it so that it now lowers as much as it did when I bought it. However the mechanic said not to lower the window 100% or it would stick and that they will replace the motor in the door. Taking it back in this Friday and hope this replacement fixes it. I didn't have the "sticking when rolled down all the way" issue until I brought it in....doesn't exactly make me feel all too confident in my dealers mechanics!
