Default extended warranty

normally I'm not big on extended warranties but they made a compelling argument. It is offered through Nissan called Nissan security plus. my dealer offered 7 years 100K for around $1500. this covers almost everything except routine care and external parts like paint, windows. it coversall engine components including lubrication system and cooling, all transmition, all steering, all internal and external breake parts. (NOT rotors, mdrums or pads.) all electrical.
also towing and renal cars
well, normally I say no,which I did, but being a brand new car line, who knows?

should I do this or is sucker printed on my forhead?

Well, if you feel at the spur of the moment that you need it go ahead and get it, Nissan gives you 60 days I believe to cancel and get the money back in case you change your mind.

Personally I am going to wait until close to the end of the 3 years, for a couple of reasons, first you can see if you have had problems to date and feel that the need is high, second by then you will have good knowledge of your milage on your car, a 7 year 100K warranty equates to 14285 miles per year, right know I put less than 10K per year on my car so I would get the 7 year 75K warranty, but things change, and it has happen to me, that you might get a job that requires more driving and you would run out of miles before you run out of years on the warranty, or the opposite if you reduce your miles I would hate to run out time and still have miles to drive and the warranty would have cost around 200 more.

You can always get the warranty from a third party close to the end of the 36 months and it will cost almost the same as it does now.

Default extended warrantee

If you keep the Z five years and spend $1200 or less for the extended warrantee, and need to replace the a/c (which isn't covered under the 5/60000) it is well worth it. Extended warranties are like accident insurance, they are a waste of money until you tear the nose off your car then you thank god you have it.
Don't forget if Nissan has heavy claims against a particular model waiting to the end of the 3/36000 will probably cost you a lot more three years down the road.

Goofy, You can do better than that with MUCH better more comprehensive coverage at Warrenty Direct. Here is a quote for a new 350Z for Phoenix:

4 Years / 60000 Miles
$575.00
$725.00

4 Years / 100000 Miles
$800.00
$1,000.00

5 Years / 75000 Miles
$725.00
$900.00

5 Years / 100000 Miles
$825.00
$1,025.00

5 Years / 125000 Miles
$1,225.00

6 Years / 60000 Miles
$625.00

6 Years / 100000 Miles

$1,075.00

7 Years / 75000 Miles
$775.00
$950.00

7 Years / 100000 Miles
$925.00
$1,125.00

*Mileage is total on the odometer, years begin the day you purchase the warranty.

DIAMONDWRAP COVERAGE
Click here for complete DiamondWrap Coverage description TERM **
DIAMONDWRAP
$100 DEDUCTIBLE

5 Years / 60000 Miles
$549.00

The first price is for a $100 deductable and the second is for 0 deductable.

The Diamond Wrap program is one that will cover the car bumper to bumper for whatever term Nissan says it will cover the engine and powertrain. For example, "bumper to bumper" for the Z is 3/36K and engine and power train is 5 yrs/60k. The Diamond Wrap program will up your bumper to bumper coverage up to 5yr/60K.

Westpak: If you wait until the 3 yr/36K runs out on the Z you are going to pay A LOT more for the warenty. I punched in the same info as above for GoofyZ but said the car had 30,000 miles on it (assuming around 10K a year). Here is THAT quote:

4 Years / 50000 Miles
$725.00
$875.00

4 Years / 60000 Miles
$900.00
$1,050.00

4 Years / 75000 Miles
$1,025.00
$1,200.00

4 Years / 100000 Miles
$1,125.00
$1,325.00

5 Years / 60000 Miles
$925.00
$1,075.00

5 Years / 75000 Miles
$1,050.00
$1,225.00

5 Years / 100000 Miles
$1,150.00
$1,350.00

5 Years / 125000 Miles
$1,550.00
N/A

*Mileage is total on the odometer, years begin the day you purchase the warranty

No Scaf I haven't but I did a lot of research and they seem to be a solid company. There is a web site that tells a lot about them.

Car Buying Tips

They go over what they feel a good warranty company should and shouldn't be.

I was considering the Diamond Wrap quote or maybe the 7 year 70K package.

I have NEVER bought an extended warranty on a new car but whatever you read seems to say that in cars with a poor reliabilty record OR NEW MODELS with no record, it may not be a bad idea.

Just my 2 cents worth.
