Nice to have another San Diegan get a ZZZZZ. Nice post and sounds like a fun ride. I'm amazed you could keep it under 120. The temptation would have been to great. The brickyard is an awesome color. I hope the State of Calif. does not rip you off will extra sales tax on your out of state purchase. They can be real jerks. Maybe you can find someone's Utah address to use for the first year. Good luck, and hope to see out on the road around town.

6MT Touring Daytona Blue ordered 1-17 from Mossy in El Cajon. Told it will be here in two weeks.

Shifts are click-click swift, it pops into gears effortlessly with a short throw. Dead Center is where it wants to be, so 2-3 shifts are a thing of beauty!! Watch out for the 5-6 shift, because I found myself doing 5-4 a few times.

Reverse is like on the old old VW Bugs, push down on the stick itself and then move. No problems with reverse if you know that.
How about downshifts? Like 3 - 2 or 4 - 2? Click click easy or notchy? The downshift into 2 seems to be the achilles heel of many manuals

You're a lucky guy.. when I was your age, I was driving a $1,000 POS, not a $33,000 sports car. Oh well, I guess I'm just jealous LOL

Like I mentioned, torque is EVERYWHERE, so for passing power just step on it! I haven't come across a situation where a 3-2 downshift or even 4-2 was necessary or beneficial in terms of acceleration. Also, I've been afraid to surpass the 4000 RPM on my breakin (only 500 more miles to go!!). On the freeway, I've done 6-5, which is pretty fun. Keep in mind, I'm not a professional driver by any means.
