Ughh, good lord that's horrible.

after the 3rd transmission in a year you would have thought it would be considered a lemon, which you then could have gone and traded it in for a new one at the dealer's cost!

But that IS considered by law a LEMON.
I know I will eventually get flamed by someone by saying this but, "Damn, I think it might be scary getting myself into a 2003." Hey guys/gals, you can't blame me for being slightly nervous right?

that's why i said that, BUT the lemon law does vary from state to state on what they do for it so i'd check what your local laws are on it

i have an 03 Zed and i haven't had any issues...just remember that majority of the stories on here are negative issues because if you didn't have any problems, you're not going to post that in here. So take that into effect and just realize that all these issues isn't as common as they seem on here...and OP if you have any concerns then just do what i did and get an extended warranty for that "what if" factor. MOST IMPORTANTLY, just enjoy the hell out of the car which ever year you decide to get because sooner or later ANY car will have issues down the road

Lemon law states that you lose .20 cents per mile over 10000 miles over a year, hence I would STILL have been taking a loss on the car, since it had about 18000 miles in that year. Besides, if the issue is REPAIRED 3 times, then yes it was a lemon, but if the part is REPLACED, it does not qualify.

Just avoid the 03 6MT 350z like the plague. The rate of failure on the 03 trannys is just too significant to ignore.

I have a 2003 Track Model, no feathering ever...I did have the driver's side window motor replaced (free of course). No clutch or transmission issues. I bought it brand new, the later date 2003 in Sep of '03. Evey car is different, and no car is perfect, no matter the year or model.

I have a 2003 Touring redline with frost interior. 34.700 miles. This has been a great car for me! Have all the maintenance records. Very clean car. I don't drive it hard...I am 57 and I work form home most of the time. If you want pics just email me back. asking $14,800. fyi...it shows I am a nubee to this sight but actually I just haven't been around for a year or so. When I first got my Z I was on this sight all the time. I have had a lot fun trading parts although I never put them on my car...except for tires. David

Have an 03 Track and Only had the Tire feathering. i really didn't have to worry about it since i just ended up buying wheels. Now I go through tires much faster with -3 camber but it looks sick! debating getting camber arms. Anyway, no tranny problems and still running hard. Hell my battery is finally giving out! Haven't changed it since I bought it. What is that almost 6 years on OEM battery. Just depends I guess on the 03's, just don't get the "friday car"

Same here too. I've got an 03 touring with 93k on it and have only had an issue with the passenger window motor which the dealer fixed for free. Other than that and the tire feathering, no issues whatsoever. I couldn't really care less about the tire feathering issue though because my Z handles exactly the way I feel is should, so if I lose some tire life out of the deal so be it. I wouldn't want to sacrifice handling for tire life.

Just be carefull when you look for one, and maybe even try to take it to YOUR mechanic and have them check it out thoroughly.

I have an '03 and everything works just as Nissan intended. I have had zero problems and I have a manual transmission. They are not as bad as some people would have you believe.
