Default My rant

Well here is my Rant... I own an 03 350z track and i live in Australia. Owning a 350z in Aus is not like having one in the USA, to give you an idea a brand new 350z track retailed for 75k, i purchased mine a year ago for 38k so straight of the bat i paid more for my second hand 5 year old car then what you would pay for it brand new. Then you have to factor in how incredible **** the AUD is in comparison to the USD, our dollar is worth about 60c in America.

Now i have just had a bad run of **** going wrong with my car. First one was some ******** thought it would be fun to kick my right hand side mirror off, to replace this with nissan genuine parts it would cost me $600 for 1 mirror. I also had a problem where the plastic seal on the exterior of the car that goes against the window broke, nissan wanted $230 for the part alone. Now my passenger side window motor has gone bust, for the window motor nissan want $669.85 this is without the install labor. ( Yes i have tried the fix it myself by cleaning the motor but to no avail)

I have since sourced a new mirror of the American ebay, now after the exchange rate and horrific postage bill it is still going to cost me $230 to get it to me in Aus. I have also sussed out the window motor of an American site and they will do it for $290 delivered.

The thing that pisses me off is i went out and spent an extra couple of grand when buying my car so i could buy a 350z that had low ks (still has only 44,000kms) with full service history and log books, yet these annoying problems still occur.

So please think when you are annoyed with the prices you pay for parts and install on you 350z that if you lived in Australia you would be paying well over double that price.

/end rant

Had to get that of my chest...

Move to America! That would be cheaper than maintaining your car. Jk

Hmm, you could probably get a window motor from an auto parts store for way cheaper. They all work the same, just not Nissan.

I enjoyed reading your rant using an Aussie accent.

Sorry for your spill of bad luck. Hopefully the car is bringing some satisfaction into your life?

Unfortunately over here we dont really have many big auto parts stores that just carry things like window motors. You really have to go through a dealership for spare parts or go to the wreckers. But here in Aus 350z arent a mass produced and sold car, i have managed to find 2 wrecked 350z around Aus (i have called about 30 places) one of them was wrecked cause all the electricals had blown so the window motor wouldnt have worked and the other one had already sold the window motors.

Yeah dude i love the car lol. But moving from a 200sx with the sr20det which pretty much is about the cheapest engine to mod over here (huge range of parts everywhere) its a pain cause this car is costing me a fortune lol Oh well all comes with driving a nice car.

Oh and for you information we don't actually throw shrimp (no one calls it shrimp in Aus) on the barbie there called Prawns.

Guess it would be similar if I owned an Italian car. Parts are from Italy. Shipping costs. Pay in lira.

It is aweful. I come from a modded Nissan Pulsar background so I'm familiar with the GA16 and SR20 engines, and as you said they're soooo damn cheap and easy mod. Being mines new I havn't come by problems yet (*tap wood*), I do as much as I can to avoid fatties opening their door into my car by parking selectivly and like what happened to you, kicking the mirrors off by keeping the car in veiw as much as possible....

OP- I live in Crestmead and work in Meadowbrook, being lower socio-demographic suburbs and seeing how much parts cost, you have to really become overprotective of the car, the window motor is just unfortunate though.

Keep your head up, it's worth having the car we have!
