Very unhappy Z owner. Need advice
After jeffa mentioned the Monrony sticker above, I did a quick search on it. I hadn't heard it called that before. Here is an interesting bit of text from that site:
http://www.cga.state.ct.us/2002/ba/2...R000448-BA.htm
(this paragraph is dealing with window etchings of the VIN)
The bill allows these businesses to specify their charges for the etching services, as the law requires, on the sale order and invoice instead of on the price disclosure sticker required by federal law to be fixed to the vehicle's window. This sticker, commonly known as the "Monrony Sticker," discloses certain information about the vehicle, including its cost, standard and optional equipment, transportation and other fees added to the base vehicle cost, and the cost of options and additional services.

While impaitently waiting for my Z to come in I almost did the same as you. While visiting Jacksonville Fla.I stoppped at a dealer and he had a car with 2500 miles on it.I said I have a z on order if you could give me a good price on this car I'll buy it today! He did his I'll talk to my manager thing and came back with a price 3500 over my new order car.I laughed and told him it's a used car/demo are you for real.I was told; on a roll back or demo if the car was not registered it is a new car.I then said like most people here if it has more then 10 miles its used ,thanks for wasting my time I'll wait for my order.Sales people are not to be trusted they are not your friend's they only have b.s. to make a sale,Good luck what ever you do;you may need a lawyer on this one!
That's funny.
I bought a Honda CRX Si brand new back in 86. I paid a little over $10K for it.
A few years later my brother (who was a youth paster at the time, but also sold computers to make ends meet) and I were driving through a car dealer's lot and noticed a CRX exactly like mine. He asked the used car guy how much it was. He said he'd check, went away, then came back and told us $11,000.
My brother told him "You know that sold for $10,000 brand new, right?" At which point the salesman told him he didn't know what he was talking about. My bro tells the sales dude "He owned a car exactly like that! How much did you pay?" I told him $10K. To which the salesman replies "You don't know what you're talking about."
So my bro laughs and walks away. Then, he walks up to the used car show room, opens the door, and says so everyone can hear "How much is that used Corvette you have there? I'm guessing about $50,000?" Then shuts the door and walks away, getting into his car and starting to drive away.
A couple used car salesmen come out the door. The one we had been talking to yells out "Nice car! I had one of those, they suck! Just go away ya preacher-*****!"
So my brother and I drive around to the main show room where the business offices are. He asks to see the owner. He then tells the owner exactly what just transpired. After listening to the explanation, the owner replies "Well you know, sometimes you just have to put the customer in his place."
My bro is speachless. He then says "I work as the service manager for a major computer dealer in central Illinois. We are very successful with corporate sales. The reason we are successful is because we treat the customer with respect. You could learn a lot about customer service."
What a bunch of retards...

... what? Did they sneek the Z under your pillow while you were sleeping? I hope at least the salesman was wearing a condom.
A car is considered to be a new car as long as it was never registered. I know of a truck being sold as new with over 15,000 miles on it and yes, the person knew what they were into and got a great deal.
Whenever I buy a new car and there's more than 5 miles on it the selling price starts coming down $100 bucks a mile. If the dealer won't pay for the miles they put on the car then why should I, right?
You're an owner, make the best of it.

hey dude.. are you stupid? I apologize for my offensive tone, but I am enraged at the dishonest dealer AND at your lack of common sense. car with that many miles is NOT new. ok ? And you DID NOT get a good deal. You paid the going rate for a demo car.
Try to have the dealer buy the car back from you.
Try to have the dealer buy the car back from you.
1) 750 miles on the car means 50 or 100 test drives or month of us use by general manager as his car (but knowing it isn't, so forget about proper break-in). Mine had 9 miles when came of the track.
2) No sticker - not good at all. People here saying it's illegal - so you have some legal grounds.
3) Overspray? I hear it first time since car came out...
Go to the dealer and make them take it back. Hope you have a lawer... Good luck.
P.S. Next time when you deal with scumbags (as all dealers are) - be alert, check everything.

Stabber;
Someone asked earlier (and I'm curious also) what's the VIN#, and more importantly, the built date, on your 350Z? From that you can tell how long your "new" car was being "used".
BTW, the papers that came with my Z said "12" miles - I checked the speedo when I started it, and it said "13" miles, so someone at the dealer took it for a short cruiZe.

I would take the car to a good auto body shop and have them examine the car up close to see if it has had any body work or painting done to it. With a build date of 9-02, that car has been around for at least 7 months.. I'd have to agree it was used as a demo or by the staff.. I just have to ask.. why did you take the car after seeing the hi mileage?? Were you in a hurry to get a car?? I would have shopped around as the dealers here had many 2003 cars on the lots.. I'm sorry you have to go thru this but something is really wrong here..

Call Nissan North America and ask for a customer satisfaction survey, fill it out and make sure you are brutal.
Mine Z came howe and on the second day I found some really light dents, probably from April hail here in Illinois. I called service and said they needed to fix it. They told me I accepted the car and it could have happened anywhere. They also told me my sales man no longer worked there.
I filled out the owner satisfaction form giving them the lowest possible score for everything remotely conected to service, customer satisfaction and quality. I filled out all the areas where they asked for written comments with the same vigor.
My salesman called me a week later and asked why the "flunked" the survey, I told him what had happened, including that supposedly he quit, and he was quite alarmed. He put me transferred me to the sales manager who arranged everything with service. The work was done for free.
The survey was the ticket...

I agree with a lot that has been said here. My opinions:
1) Take it to a body shop or two or three. Proof that it was wrecked and repaired is your best proof that it should never have been sold as new. That is your best ammunition against the dealer, the most legally damning evidence you have. If the car was wrecked and repaired, I think the dealer is in big trouble.
2) To a large extent, you did this to yourself. You should never have accepted a car with almost 800 miles on it as new. Having done so, you have no right to be extremely picky. However if it was wrecked and repaired and you weren't notified, IMHO you have every right to complain and get whatever you can get.
3) Keep in mind that the dealership is not part of Nissan, they are a franchise. Dealer employees are not Nissan employees. Nissan has limited sway over the dealer, especially if they're going out of business.
4) I have had a lot of luck with my state's Attorney General's office, Consumer Affairs division. They love to get involved and bring the weight of the law down when consumers are being screwed by unscrupulous businessmen. Get their address (in your state, of course) and copy them on all written correspondence, and make sure all correspondence states that they have been copied.
FWIW
**UPDATE***
I just got an email from my neighbor. He told me his friend was at my dealership in April or May when a silver 350z got hit in the parking lot. This pretty much confirms this car was hit. I have no more doubts. I am going to call his friend to get something in writing. Then I will have to go to a bodyshop What should I do now? Verify this with a body shop? The body shop I made an appointment with is the one that does this dealerships body work! So I think I need to find another one....
BY the way, is there anyway possible to check if they had another silver 350z in stock at that time???? NNA would know right? This would make it easy to prove it was mine.
It is illegal as hell to sell a car thats been hit and not disclose it to the consumer right? even if it did happen in the parking lot?
Let me add something else. They have a pikes peak white 350z there. The salesman specifically told me they use it as their donor car. When Zs come in that need parts (in this case a sway bar), they swap it with the white Z.

UPDATE AGAIN
I found out the Z at the dealer was hit by a station wagon. Warranty information was exchanged. I called the salesman that dealt with the accident. He said it was a small bump and that the car was sold back then. I told him how I bought my silver z with black leather 2 weeks ago. He said it wasnt the same one.
Of course, he's probably lying his *** off. I am going there afterwork to request to see the paperwork of the accident

Question, does anyone know if I can find out when my car was delivered to the dealer I bought it from?
Here's the problem. On the sticker, it says Garrands Nissan, INC in New York. I think thats where my car got delivered too first. But I bought it in Delaware. Is there any way to tell when the car was delivered to the Delaware Dealer from Garrands Nissan???

hey guys, i am new, but have some experience with this.
demo cars are sold as new. even if they have 20,000 miles on them. they are sold as new because they never have to be registered to run on a dealer plate and under dealer insurance. yes you may get a good deal on it, but it is still a "new" car.
the dealership i worked at did this. we had one truck with 27,000 miles on it (owners wife drove it) and he sold it. but it was sold at "new" but for a super low price. I am sorry to hear f o your problems. As whole, i wouldn't buy a car from a dealer with more than 20 miles on it. I know how we drove them. hell order one and show up when it gets dropped off the truck. that is what i did with the maxima...... hope it gets sorted, but it definately sounds like it got hit
