Default Thinking about buying a 350Z!

I'm thinking about getting a 350z. I have 2 more years to go through of college then airforce training.

I live in canada and the city where i live has some pretty bad roads. Not as bad as toronto but drivable. There is a LOT of snow in the winter time and I've wondered how sports cars such as the Z would handle up here in North Bay. I don't know a great deal about the 350z or even cars. To be quite sure, I don't know what I might be getting myself into, so i'm here to ask and i don't have much time on the internet.

I'm interested in getting a used 350z of course, not planning on keeping this for too long, maybe for about 4-5 years until i get shipped off somewhere. I also haven't had a chance yet to actually go out and see one yet. If you guys don't mind, I've got a few questions.

1. Reliability (from 2003-2007)

2. I'm going to be hauling some military gear (you military guys know how much crap) and some extra civvie cloths. Will i be able to fit all this in? (i doubt it)

3. Can this car be driven everyday like a civic, all year round? And how many of you use this car on a daily basis and not just week ends?

4. From what year should I be looking at, what i mean is, what year have they started getting rid of the bugs and somewhat got the car down to a science.

5. So this doesn't have a glove box eh. How big is the compartment behind the driver!?

thank you all, and good day

If you live in an area with significant snow fall why even consider a performance sports car. Sort of like taking a mini van to autocross.

I second davidv's comments; there's not much you can do with this car when there's 20+ cm of snow sitting on the road around it, and worse, when that snow turns to ice. Below is my car from yesterdays snowfall. Luckily the snow doesn't last long in Calgary...

OP, even with the best of snow tires, this car won't do you any good if you get lots of snow in North Bay. If you like the brand, and even the engine, the Murano might be a car you want to look at... or if you have the $$, you can buy a Z + a winter beater... afterall it is an incredible car to drive when the weather is nice!

I third davids comments. Get an Evo or STi. Those are some performance vehicles with deffinate snow capabilities.

You need a 4-runner not a Z.

theres not a lot of storage space in the Z at all...the back is big enough to put a couple duffel bags in but thats as far as youll probably get lol

the compartments behind the seats arent too big. idk what you'd plan on putting in them but you wont be able to get much in. if your looking for a car with storage capability the Z most likely isnt the best idea. its made for 2 people (obviously) and in all honesty, that and a couple small things is all you will be able to carry around. its not too spacey by any stretch

good luck with the airforce training, i know ALL about that.. my ex went in and has now been in for almost 2 years, but i went to lackland and all that for the BMT graduation which was pretty cool, but that base sucks ALOT. i know you'll be glad to get outta there and get on with tech school.

-good luck!

The 350Z has very little room for anything other than the driver and passenger.
