03 vs 06 350z
Is their a big difference in what you can do you to a 03 350z and a 06 350. I'm interested in buying one but hoping it will last me a good amount of years want to know any major differences I may have missed

03 is the oldest you can get. The interior is very easy to scratch (tends to be true to all years though) and you get the DE engine which makes 287 to the crank.
The 06 has the Rev-Up engine which is prone to oil consumption which can be a major headache. The 06 makes a little more HP than the DE (03-05) but less TQ. I'd recommend an 07-08 if possible. They have the HR engine, which makes more power, higher red line, better everything and worth every penny more.
If you're stuck buying 03-06 look for the lowest mileage / best condition and have a mechanic take a look at it before buying.
Notes:
The 05 Anniversary engine has the Rev-Up engine (Ones in the 06)
All exhaust, Y-Pipes are the same.
03-06 Test pipes and HFCs fit the same.
07-08 Test pipes and HFCs fit the same.
In order to get 07-08 on the 03-06 you'd also have to swap the headers or vice versa.

Not all 06's consume oil, I wouldn't even call it most. It's just something that gets propagated over and over again.
noticeable differences with the 06'
*Interior refinements (paint is still easy to scratch)
*Speed sensitive steering. (tightens up at high speeds I love it on mine)
*Tail lights and headlights are much nicer. The tails especially. LEDs
*Revs to 7k over the 6600 for the regular DE. (more top end power less low end TQ)
*Newer style front bumper
*Better Transmission (more durable on manual)
*Newer style wheels
*Non brembo brakes are bigger
(I would find an HR though if you are ok with spending a bit more, but i would also take an 06 over and 03 anyday of the week)

Why didn't you take your car in to have it fixed then? I'm just shy of 100k and I add my left over .5 QT in half way though the oil change cycle (3000-3500 miles Ams sig 5-30) and its never low. I also beat the hell out of my car. I let it warm up before taking it past 3k rpms, but i'm not easy on it at all.

As others have mentioned, the '06 Z came with the Rev-Up motor with 300 hp. You can tell from the exterior because only the '06 MY had the '07-'08 front bumper matched with the '03-'05 hood. Anyway, you should use the search function; the cars you're asking about are between 9-12 years old. All stock 350Zs are slow. There, I said it.

Another question I do have is I love the look of the 350z but honestly realistically speaking how fast can I make this car I plan on buying a turbo for it and I want it to hit about 400 to 500 hp but I also have a friend of mine with a 350z and he says he's tuned up it up so much that it's hitting a little under 500 hp is that accurate?

If you plan on buying a turbo you should really look at how much they cost, your 10k car budget plus the 10k for turbo you could buy a nice used 370z that will hold its value longer. If you love you some z33 then go for it, but if you think your going to get a $3000 ebay turbo and not have major problems you might want to start reading this forum a little more.
