The HR motor is just all around better. responds to mods better, faster, higher redline, but they had oil consumption problems in 06 i believe. but a better version of the VQ motor for sure

The 06 didn't have an HR. It was a DE. The HR never had any oil problems.

'06 = Revup, not DE.

I probably wont be about to afford an HR but maybe ill shoot for one of those Higher revving ones...I sure do love being able to shift at 8400 rpm =P

You guys are definitely more responsive than evolutionm.net...i got one f'ing response to my question there...

Speaking of 370z...me and my friend were car shopping and we stopped at a nissan dealership to look at the z...i was sitting in it and looking around and then i turned it on (didnt start it up tho i knew what i was doing) to look at all the gauges and stuff(i wanted to show my friend the multi-use gauge like in the 350z) but before i really got to look for it a salesman came up and was rude as hell...He start saying, and quote, "this isnt a toy you need to turn it off now" i said i was just looking at the gauges and he said "i understand that, turn it off..." Me and my friend just looked at each other and were like WTF???...guy was a total *****.

If a salesman was ever a douche to me, I'd be 10x the douche back to him... complain to the manager and say you'll never consider buying a car from that dealership and will tell everyone you know, due to your bad experience with the staff.

You won't care about the higher redline in the Z when you have a much smoother power curve at your disposal.

Why did you skip the 06? I'm just curious.

The evo looks better imo, and the evo is super easy to work on and mod. the 350z was nicer on the inside but only a 2 seater, which was cool when i got it at 18 years old, but i really appreciate the room in the evo now. the 350z cost alot more to modify and was way harder to modify."

lol that was the only response i got...

You seem to be pretty set on the earlier models, but I can't stress it enough, go for the 07 and up. A lot of problems which could be a ***** to deal with like tire-feathering, grinding gears, window-streaking, and oil consumption are fixed on 07s-08s. Plus you get the revised suspension, which is heaps better than the older one, in my opinion. The best part of it all is the HR motor, which is a lot more refined than the 03-06 motor, in my opinion. It revs higher, its a lot smoother, and noticeably faster. Plus with the new 370Z out, you can get one fairly cheap.

i used to have a celica and wished toyota would answer the Z with a celica that could hang with a Z. if you like the celica you will definitely like the Z. the only thing i don't like about the Z is the blind spot but i just stuck on thos grandma blindspot mirrors and all is well, takes times to get used to them because you've been brained washed to check over your shoulder.

Think the biggest thing to look for so far was the tire feathering on the 03-05 models. Apparently there's a class-action lawsuit against Nissan concerning it. I've got an 06 and I've noticed a little on my rears. Just a side effect of not having a solid rear axle.

Window problems are high on the list as well, but I think that goes for pretty much any coupe. Mustangs, Camaros, etc etc. Thus the reason alot of new cars have that auto-slight-roll-down feature when you open the door (which pisses tinters off completely) in an attempt to prevent the constant flexing of the window as you close the door causing premature wear issues.

Scratching of the interior is a common complaint. Hard to find a used one that doesn't have fingernail nicks throughout. Could be worse. Try finding a Dodge truck without a cracked dash.

Oil consumption has been brought up a few times as well.

All comes down to a test drive. Look for scratchy gears, loud road noise, etc.

I just thought of another question...is there a way to fix the tire feathering???...i read that its cause by having your toe to negative or positive...if you got the car aligned or something would that help?

I'm pretty sure I read something about that being canceled because of the economy. I'm not sure, though.
